I think it is very important that the breeder knows. To start with they will most likely be able to recomend vet who knows Whippets. IF this puppy really has a problem, even if it is mild and will not cause any problems to the dog, the breeder should know that they produced pup with heart...

It is more that to get any meaningful result they would have to do more than the dozen or so markers; it would have to be much more expensive than what is commercially acceptable. Some X breds are generation after generation crossbreds; if you could do their pedigree there may not be many so...

These sort of test are notoriously unrelieble. If you use another company you will most likely get totally different result. My bet is still mostly beagle, with possibly some Whippet and probably other breeds. 20" is the size of Whippet, one of his parents may be Whippet or Whippet cross...

Yes, that is true, but there are ways to educate public. For instance, in one stage our club ran ads in papers (long time before internet) in Pet section saying; "are you looking for purebred dog? Contact the breed club for list of registered breeders. Phone..........." People, do not care...
