Here's an informal pic I took of Darcy and Jen at the Melb. Royal.

Congrats.... What a great win!!!

Well we are off to Sydney on Wednesday for Spring Fair, We are showing the chinese cresteds and poms at the specialities and at the spring fair shows. We aren't showing Tilly my whippet due to her still being in baby and no point taking her all that way when she is trying to grow into her legs.. LOL I am still keen to watch the whippet speciality and hopefully the whippets at the spring fair... Good luck to everyone going.

Thanks Cristina,

Not sure how many are in the whippet speciality but for Friday there are 46 whippets entered, Saturday there are 47 whippets and Sunday there are 50 whippets. Thanks Cristina

I had a visit from Rumor yesterday she looks great, the lady that owns Rumor has bought a male friend for her and they seem to get on well.

I cut her nails, wormed her and give her a muscle work out, so by the end of the day I had to feed her some nibbley bits to win her over again. I will get a photo of them at the next nail clipping session.

Cheers Griff

Hi Griff,

So happy to hear you've seen Rumer, also glad to hear she has a new friend. Her owner use to spend summer there and winter up here with her family who have another of my whippets. Rumer use to be very good about having her nails done, so hopefully she won't take long to trust you to do them.

The only reason she didn't continue in the show ring was due to her hating it. At 9 months of age she received a best in group award but the general special judge absolutely spooked her and she was never the same again, although she did manage a Reserve in Show. She was just so stiff in the ring and was like a statue on the table that if a judge wanted to pick up a leg they had a hard time getting it off the table.

I haven't seen her for a few years now so it will be great to see some pictures of her.

Thanks for looking after her.

Cristina

Aggghhh got me spelling her name wrong - it's Rumour :b (told you it's been awhile since I've seen her) can only put it down to being a Monday........ :teehee:

Sorry for not posting the Whippet Club results for the Thursday night before Spring Fair, but my PC has been unwell and has been spending some time in hospital. I've bought a new laptop but need a guru to help set me up so in the meantime, I'm managing through webmail. I'll get the results up this week.

Quickly, congratulations to Greg & Cheryl Skene whose boy gained his Grand Championship title on Sunday.

Also, Congratulations to Ian Doherty & Terry Crowley for Martinique Silver Sage taking out BEST IN GROUP under Shirley Wilmott from Shirkeit Knls, South Australia at Saturday night's show at Castle Hill. Not sure if they got anything In Show.

Our Ming x Jack litter is almost 9 weeks old and I'll try and get some pics posted. We're really happy with them and having 5 girls and 3 boys to choose from has been wonderful. Whippet litters still amaze me how much they change. Our RR's are born and when wet, you go that's the one but whippets keep changing. I never feel confident picking one. Margot has done an amazing job rearing them. She plays hand puppets with them; the neighbourhood kids come in each afternoon to play with them, and each night, she takes a different one upstairs for 'one on one'. They are certainly the most well socialised, happy and content puppies I've seen in a long time. I'm very lucky that she let me breed Ming and has done the great job she has for a first timer.

Cheers

Toni

What a great day we have had, up early to the show after a long night with whelping puppies, I left OH at home with the new arrivals and set off to the show with the son in the front seat (boys day out) and Maggie (Ch Parnew Wild Irish Rose) was  Runner Up Best In Show  today under Ms G Alexander (Vic) Group and Mrs A Lane (Vic) Specials. We will try and repeat the dose or one better tomorrow.

Cheers Griff.

I've been waiting to hear how Mags went today Griff - but you've posted on your puppy thread but nothing on here. Did your luck not hold up today?

Hey Lana,

Maggie was BIG and Best State Bred in Show,

Guinness was Best Minor In Show,

So a great weekend showing for us being that Maggie and Guinness are half brother and sister.

Now we have some more half rellies to play with, how would Guinness go up your way ??????

Very special night for Isilwane at the Hound Club of ACT on Saturday night (6 Dec)

the Whippet entry was 15.

BOB & RUBIS - Ch Isilwane Flag Bearer ET (Barrenger)

RUBOB - Ch Isilwane Fleur De Lis (Barter)

DCC - Beauroi Fair Krakoth Wip (McNeill) (and new champ at AM show)

RDCC - Satang French Connection (Barter)

but yet again I didn't show Zest to this great win - I have Yvonne Barter to thank for that, BUT after twice being beaten by my own dogs for Best In Show wins recently I was over the moon that this time BIS was awarded to the Rhodesian Ridgeback Ch Isilwane The Desert Rat (Tobruk) and he WAS handled by me. So no I do not remember much about the drive home that night - and Zest as always rode shotgun in a very contented frame of mind. And after a shower so I could go to the pups, Electra got lots of hugs and kisses for producing her.

And I would like to brag for her kids at the recent Whippet Club of NSW Specialty prior to the Spring Fair -

RUBISS & RBCC - Ch Ridgesetter Hope N Glory (IID)

RDCC - Ch Ridgesetter Made In USA (IID)

2nd Intermediate Bitch (behind her sister) Ch Ridgesetter Maid In USA (IID)

2nd Aust Bred Bitch - Ch Isilwane Flag Bearer ET

1st Junior Dog - Isilwane Ice Age (grandson)

2nd Junior Dog - Ridgesetter ?? (sorry Toni - grandson)

2nd Junior Bitch - Ridgesetter Spotlight (granddaughter)

3rd Junior Bitch - Isilwane Ice Queen (granddaughter)

Lisa (who loves to brag about her Scrat girl)

Congratulations Griff & Lisa on Maggie and Guinness awards over the weekend, a little birdie told me Guinness was piloted to his wins in Hound Group by a very capable junior handler.

CONGRATULATIONS Lisa on scooping the pool at the Hound Club of ACT with both your breeds  Belated congratulations on Zest's Best in Show during your Royal trip to Tasmania, I miss more posts than I have time to reply to lately.

:huggles: to Electra

BEST IN GROUP yesterday under Carol Woolcock went to CALAHORRA CHAUCER owned by Malcolm and Joanne Fleming (Meilandina).

RUBOB was Ch Martinique Silver Sage owned by Ian Doherty and Terry Crowley

Reserve Dog Ch Taejaan Poetic Justice owned by Newling and Turay

Reserve Bitch Ch Ridgesetter Etain owned by Comerford.

Saturday Night's show under Peter Warby BOB and RUNNER-UP BEST IN GROUP went to an Intermediate Calahorra Bitch (sorry, catalogue is still in the car). RUBOB was the bitch also (will check name) and Dog CC was Ch Calahorra Old Bailey.

We're finally winding down for the year. Christmas Show next week and that's it for us although there is still another couple of shows. Been a long, hard year for me as I campaigned my RR, and especially heavily in the latter half of the year as he was close to being No. 1 nationally but got pipped a couple of weeks ago by a Best In Show from the winner so now my Duke looks like finishing up at No. 2 which still isn't bad considering he only turns 2 at the end of the year. Think we'll take it easy next year and anyway, we'll have baby whippets to campaign. Yippee!

Merry Christmas

Well done everyone!

Wish I had some shows ... bored, bored, bored :(

For years now I've tried to convince my husband that "we" need a "summer house" in Tasmania - he could get rid of me and the dogs for 2-3 months a year and we could keep going to shows (in cooler weather) right through Nov Dec and Jan.
