Hmmm, I am no expert but the immune system is working unfortunately with immune problems it is attacking healthy parts of the body which is why steroids are the only answer as they suppress the immune system and stop this inappropriate response, they do bring their own problems as the body is more prone to any infection but are a life saver in certain illness

It is such a complex disease but can be brought under control with the right treatment, the correct diagnosis from an expert is paramount. Jan

cheers    :huggles: i take gin to my Osteopath who also works with homeopathy, accupuncture etc and he has been doing his best to help boost her immune system
she goes to see him tuesday so hopefully with this added info he can help her :luck:   :luck:   :luck:

Yes, we hope he can help Little Ginni sending you all the :luck: in the world

Do keep us

Best thing to do is see what your vet says to your questions Becka, it may well be that they've already considered this possibility so you never know. Got everything crossed for Ginni. :luck: :luck: :luck:

i was probably unfair saying that about my vet not considering it :b

trouble is with it being a large practice of usually 10 or 11 vets (gin has seen 6 of them over this) and the issue going on for 5 months now it's easy for them to miss things that happened a month or two ago.

now that i have been specifying that i only see the top man, her treatment has been a lot more consistent.

he's been looking at her symptoms at this moment in time only and wasn't the vet treating her when she had the allergic reaction to the AB's, i'm sure when i show him the time line of events and her symptoms he'll more than likely agree.

he'd already been looking at the possibility's of rhumatoid arthritis possibly triggered by the infection but had said that she wasn't showing enough symptoms for it to be definative so he shouldn't need much convincing that it might be immune mediated arthritis which she is showing ALL the symptoms for :)

it kinda seems odd praying that this is the problem, knowing that she'll be on steroids for a long time, possibly for life, but just at the moment i'll grab at anything that even vaguely offers hope

i just want happy minxy ginni back :huggles:

Wishing you lots of luck getting to the root of Ginni's illness :luck: :luck: :luck:

Think it's only natural to ask questions Becka, and any decent vet will look at all the possibilities so I hope they'll investigate this further. I'd be out my mind if it was one of mine and I too would be looking for answers. Really hope you get to the bottom of this, sounds like both you and Ginni are in limbo. :(

Take care Ginni :huggles:

Hi Becka - I have just travelled this roller coaster ride with you from beginning to end - all in one reading. I'm sorry I have not seen it earlier.

I'm wishing a breakthrough for Ginni TODAY. And for you I'm wishing all the strength you need to cope with this long trail of investigation.

lotsa love,

better than me

she was poorly during the night so i've spent the whole night watching her every twitch ( i know i shouldn't)

now she's asleep again and i've got a full day ahead of me,

i might book someone else to sit with her tonight so i can get a few hours -_-

the earliest appointment with the top man at my vets is tuesday so it's going to be a very very long weekend :(

Sending you and Ginny lots of :luck: :luck: :luck: .

:( Im so sorry Becka that poor little Ginni isnt any better, you must be so worried. :( :luck: :luck: We wish you lots of luck for the vets - keep your chin up :huggles:

Righto news at last

the college finally got back to Mr Vet yesterday with their advice and GinGin started a course of steroids and immuno-suppressants last night

i'm not going to be sooo daft as to start celebrating yet but Gin has shown a couple of encouraging signs today

her temp is down

she got out of her bed unaided this morning...... in search of food!!! (w00t)

she's eaten more today than she has all week

and she seemed genuinely peeved when i went out with a couple of the others for a walk

it's going to be one hell of a long way to recovery though, she has lost over 2 and a half kilo's in weight (about 6 lb's in old money) and she was never fat to start with :( even the muscles on her head need building up again, poor wee darling :huggles:

she's going to be the most spoilt whippy in the world this christmas though

:huggles: thank you everyone, i'm sure the good vibes you all sent have tipped the balance her way :huggles:

:*
