Oh no, I've only just seen this. Poor Alfie and what a horrible shock for you :(

Sending Alfie lots of good thoughts for a successful op and a full recovery :huggles: :luck: :luck:

What an awful thing to happen ,I hope Alfie has a full recovery .

So glad to hear Alfie should make a full recovery :huggles:

Poor Alfie :( They will go silly won't they :p I hope he has a very speedy recovery. I'm not sure where in Scotland you are, but I have an old friend who is an orthopaedic specialist in Stirling, Andrew Miller, he is brilliant. He works by referral only, and this is his practice. I would travel from Hereford to see him!

If you do manage to see him, please tell him best wishes from June in the Afternoon from his Animed days :D

Wherever Alfie goes, good luck :luck: :luck: :luck:
Thanks June ... and thanks to everyone for all these lovely, supportive messages. They really do make us feel better :huggles: Alfie was referred to a specialist orthopaedic surgeon in the East Neuk and both Ian and I felt so much better after he had spoken to us and explained what he's going to do. Alfie will be getting a metal plate and screws and the vet is confident that there is a 98% chance of him making a full recovery from this injury. His operation will either be tomorrow (and he will come home on Saturday) or - if they have to order in a special size of metal plate to fit his bone - the operation will be on Friday and he will come home on Monday. I'll keep everyone posted and thanks again for all your support and kind wishes. :)
I have heard nothing but good things about the orthopaedic specialist in the East Neuk . It's where my vet and lots of others here in Edinburgh refer dogs to .

Hope Alfie gets well soon

:huggles:

Alfie has had his operation and the vet was happy with how it all went. When I phoned to see how he was he was still very sleepy and was snoozing with his head on a fluffy hot water bottle and a blanket over him  We're just waiting to hear back from the vet this evening (around 6 or 6.30 he should be calling) for a more detailed update but so far so good. Thanks again for all the well wishes :)

I'm glad he's through the op now, here's to a quick, painfree and perfect recovery :huggles:

Glad the operation is now over with. Here's to a speedy recovery.

Excellent news Jill. It sounds as if Alfie is in very good hands.

Lots of licks from his sister Emmy and cousin Connie.

Only just caught up with this, so sorry about poor little Alfie.....I hope he has a good recovery...

Get well soon Alfie... :luck:

I hope the news after Alfie's op is good and that he's not too sore tomorrow. I don't know whether he will have an external fixature on the leg but Tilly did and they are a bit cumbersome. I bought her a childs very squashy bean bag with proper polystyrene beads inside (not foam) and it moulded around her beautifully and gave lots of support. Thinking of you, and Gracie sends her brother lots of gentle licks.

The vet phoned around 7pm - Alfie had had something to eat and then some more pain killers and was snoozing again. The vet is really pleased with the way the fracture came together and - if everything goes to plan - we'll be picking him up around noon on Saturday. We can't wait to get him home again - the house really isn't the same without him in it.

So pleased for you, that's wonderful news :huggles:

Awwwww, really pleased that Alfie's operation went well. :D Not too long to wait until he's back home where he belongs :huggles: Hope he makes a speedy recovery.

great to hear he's on the mend, but boy what a long wait til saturday :sweating: just think of all those whippet kisses when he sees you again!
