Hi all.

This is a warning to be very carfeul in there park.

this morning a dog that Zeb plays with and had played with 5 mins before run into brken glass that a young adult broke.

He has had to have a 2 1/2 hour op on his leg to safe it. He ripped his tendon, ligament, nerves and archery. He may still lose his leg because of infection.

Poor ruddy is not even 2 years old yet runs around like a mad dog.

He will be in plaster for 2 months.

ruddy is the one between the black lab and the golden retriver.

Has you can see it is will used, this park is right next to they primary school. so alot of children do use it before school and after.

God, what a nightmare :(

Please pass on my best wishes to him and his owner :huggles:

Bloggs sliced his foot up last week on glass too, he was lucky though, just skin and flesh rather than anything more crucial.

so he's got stitches for another week and i'm laying him up - I just love having a whippet in the house who's not allowed to burn off his energy, don't you?

they should make the little b*****s run round the park BAREFOOT

hope his leg heals well :luck: :luck:

the same thing happened to my sons dog so i know how you are feeling she made a full recovery hope he does the same

years ago a couple who bought a dobermann pup off us were letting him have a run in their local park in manchester.the dog stopped dead in his tracks and they ran up to him to see what was wrong.he had run across a piece of sharp glass that was embedded in the ground,it had sliced straight through his toes and by the time they got him to a vet he had died due to loss of blood.they were absolutely heartbroken and so were we :(

a friend and myself this evening went up there we picked up 1/2 a tesco bag of glass. There is his blood by the gate. (alot of blood) Have phoned around and have also told people that use it to keep a eye out for glass.

Amother friend is seeing the local paper and his owner is contaction the local counclier.

makes you thing though. What sort of evil person would do samething like this.?

Oh Poor Ruddy :( :( Hope he gets getter very soon....

Youth these days  we'll just never understand them.

Im so sorry Sharon,.... how aweful for you :( and Zeb, I hope he does ok.

Strangely enough I was on the PC last night and heard smashing glass outside... it was a few local youths stoned, honestly I have to take my dogs outside too - where is their common sense these days I often wonder. :(

its funny you posting this cos only the other night me and jac were taking the gang out and the short bit of road we walk downt to get to the woods is covered in one part with broken glass and jac was saying why do kids do this?

Well it was more like ''why the bleep do little bleeps do this?'' Broken glass is my biggest vex especially on grassed areas.

I tend to avoid parks altogether now solely for this reason but I'm lucky enough to be able to do this. What I have noticed though is that parks that are gated and locked at 9pm don't tend to suffer as much. It may be worth approaching the council about this. Usually, local residents are keen to carry out the task of opening and locking the gates because they suffer from anti-social behaviour caused by these idiots.

Sincerely wish Ruddy a speedy recovery and I hope that something positive happens to prevent it happening again. :luck: :huggles:

I had to stop using the local football pitch because of glass and dog pooh (w00t)

I bet the footballers were happy, slide into either a pile of glass or a pile of crap

Exactly Jac..... I know who some of the culprits are up here too, ..and they come from nice families. (or some of them anyways) We have a dog walk next to our park and they go down there to have a 'get together - groupies and all that' then smash the glass afterwards where people and children walk, and we have to walk our dogs.

a lot of the glass in my local park isnt down to the youths (although they definately do add to it on warm evenings) The old groundsman used to dig big holes and bury glass - it seems like some of it is working its way back up to teh surface.

The rangers keep a good eye out for it, but they have no idea where he dug his holes so until someone finds a fresh outcropping there's nowt they can do :(

this is the result

Found out today that a young child was playing footie with his dad, got taken to the hospital because he cut his forehead on glass. " in the same day.

i was in our local park last night and watched in horror as 3 little s***s threw glass bottles against the concrete bins which are dotted around the park.

2 other dog owners were in there as well, one of them went over and tried to make them pick it up....but just got a mouthful of abuse

it took me and these 2 other blokes bloody ages to pick it all up, i had to phone my OH to come to the park and take gypsy and the 2 other dogs out of the park so we could do without them standing on any

hope this dog make a full recovery :luck:

Just to keep you up todate. His whole leg is plastered. he well need to have x-rays every week for 2 months,so that they know if the tendons are ok. If not then they well have to take him elsewhere so that they can repair the damage.

If i could find the B*****d who did this then i would do the same to them.

We pick up litter nearly every day around our village when we walk the dogs (and that includes beer bottles and cans). We get so angry that some individuals (b******s) have no thought for others or for the environment.

I do hope Ruddy makes a good and speedy recovery from such a traumatic injury. :luck: :luck:

Sorry to hear about that and hope he makes a full and speedy recovery. Up until I became a very recent puppy owner I hardly even noticed broken glass but now I'm picking up everything I see on our little walks and swearing at the l******** who smash bottles on pathways (sadly schoolkids and underage drinkers).

Have you thought about aproaching the local newpaper to run a story about the litter louts and the damage they have done?

Hope he feels better soon.
