Really enjoyed looking at your pictures. They truly demonstrate the way that your dogs and cats do get on. Well done to you for achieving such a situation. Sadly, I could not envisage my dogs being so well adjusted although if they had been raised with them from pups then maybe it could be achieved. Have yours lived together since pups and kittens?

mine get on well with my 2 cats couldnt say the same for others though :(

lucky you, mine loathe them from 3 miles away. each spot id pass where they see a cat they never forget, should it be 6 months away till the next time id be in the same spot theyre on point !!

Those pictures are lovely :))

Sada remembers everywhere she see a cat when we are out and

is looking for it when we next go out in the same place like Stormy

say's his dogs do.

She was attacked by a cat for no reason when she was a pup though

so they may be the reason she hates cats.

Kaya had old shit-a-lot next door cornered in my garden the other

day but i think she was more up for playing than anything.

Good job Sada was was in her crate due to her operation because

her ideas would have been very different.

This is the first time i've never had a cat since i dont know when

and i think it may have been different if i had my own as they dont

bother with my chinchillas :))

They are fantastic pics just goes to show how they can live together  , i take it they have all grown up together. My dogs love a cat but unfortunetly not in that way. clare

Great photos! You have a lovely family  My whippet lucy whom I aquired 3 months ago at the age of 1 seems to have no interest in cats, here she is with my sisters cat, who has never lived with dogs!

My two hate them with a passion, it's like a red mist comes down and they go into a frenzie!! , don't know why as never encouraged them to chase cats. They can also spot one a mile away so we have to be on our toes at all times. yet to look at them butter wouldn't melt o:)

Great pics!!

Zephyr is just a little bit scared of our cat Dazzle :b - mainly because Bob (scarey ginger now deceased) gave him a sharp slap the day he arrived home at 8 weeks, which taught him to be extremely respectful of felines. :- "

He would rather cross the road if we see a cat when we are out! :b However, he goes mental when he sees another cat in our garden, that is something that he just can't allow!! :sweating:

all working dogs yet seem to know not to touch our cats???

your dogs are stunning

They are great photos! Mine used to get on with cats but my mums big bruiser of a cat had them pinned up against the washing machine for daring to go near his food and they have hated them ever since!

I used to have a house rabbit that was trained to a litter box and Stanley thought she was his and was ever so protective of her. Will see if I can find a photo of them curled up together

thank you

My cats and dogs are not grown up alla together.... they arrived to us in different ages. my black Ig girl Frida adopted the little black and white kitty, she found him in a garden, he was dying and so we brought him home and she started to give him HER milk :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: and so he survived, anywheere it was so cold in that garden that he got an ear infection and now he don't hear anything, poor little boy!

Your Dazle is sooooo nice!!!! And Zephyr is a right beauty!!!

I have introduced two rescue whippets into my multi-cat household. Fly came when he was 3 years old and accepted that the cats were in charge right from the word go. Sadly, I lost him 4 weeks ago after a blissful 10 years together.

I was quite worried about introducing my new rescue, Merlin, to our cats - he is two-and-a-half and has a much stronger prey drive than Fly did, and will chase squirrels and rabbits absolutely mercilessly on walks. The cats are used to bossing a 'mere' dog around and Merlin has now been in the house 2 weeks and is absolutely clear that the cats are not to be trifled with. The only time he gets a bit aerated (quite rightly) is when my puny little siamese tries to stand between his front legs at mealtimes and steal his food! Merlin could quite easily take Foggy's head off, but the worst he has done is give a rather aggrieved 'woof' to scare him off!

I have found that cats and dogs (and the occasional pet rat too) manage to live together quite happily in general. A new dog coming into a household where the cats are used to dominating the dogs is not usually a problem - any initial aggression on the part of the dog needs to be dealt with firmly, and obviously you need to be very watchful until the situation settles down, but a cat who stands its ground and is prepared to scratch or otherwise defend itself is going to get the better of the dog in the end.

If your cats are not used to dogs then it may take a little longer, but as long as the cats are never in a situation where they can be cornered by the dog then they are unlikely to be in any serious danger - they can get under furniture, onto cupboards or out of the catflap where the dog cannot follow them. I think the key point is as far as possible to let the animals adjust to the situation with minimal input from you. The more you try to intervene, or separate them, the longer it is likely to take - with sensible precautions and common sense they will learn to accommodate each other.

Gypsy hates and them, and like a few have said, knows where each and everyone of them lives whilst out on walks

we have a new kitten living next door, which decided to venture into our garden     dont think it will be back :- "

Awwww fabulous photos

Neil and I love cats as much as dogs so we hope to get a cat or two in the future  Tina hasn't been brought up with cats so we'll be very careful with introductions.

WE are undecided as to look for a rescued adult who's used to cats or go for two kittens - we'll decide closer to the date :huggles:

What great pictures of your cats and dogs... :huggles:

I have 3 of each...being 3 cats and also 3 whippets... and yes they do get along most of the time... :D :b

Ahh, I loved seeing your pics of the whippies and cats - love your Devon Rex!

We have 2 whippets, 2 chihuahuas and a 17 year old tabby cat who all get along fine together. I taught the pups they must respect the cat and just leave him alone and Dylan the cat is so laid back he just accepts the dogs as part of the family.

Loads of people on K9 seem to have both sighthounds and cats and all get along fine.
