Designer Crossbreeds

Do people that breed these dogs know what their doing or is it just a business venture !!!

My friend has a labradoodle. I think these are getting fairly common nowdays. Shes a nice dog but where do you go from there. What I mean is, is that the end of the line or do they find another labradoodle to mate with or do they choose either of the parents breed to mate back to. Oh what a mess. I cant begin to think about it. My own dog is a rescued saluki X which I imagine was bred for working. I just liked the look of him and his sad eyes looking out of the pen.

Next up on the carousel of cool canines, we have Archie. Now this is a highly desirable, ultra rare and extremely exotic Bedippet. An amazing meeting of the Bedlington Terrier stylishly integrated with a Whippet. Normal sale price for a Bedippet like Archie would be £18,000 but for a limited time only, you can pick him up for under a £1,000. Hurry, hurry, hurry

Pug/Lhaso x's and their all booked

Archies lovely though isn't he :b

At first I thought it was some silly magazine promoting the breeding of the mongrel....whoops, designer dogs :- " But as I read to the end I realised the article is actually saying how STUPID it all is

Personally I can't understand how ANYBODY can be so stupid as to fork out nigh-on a thousand quid for a crossbreed with a stupid made-up name!!! Shows how THICK they are!!!!

There was an ad in the yellow Ad-Trader today from a breeder of Labradoodles and he was offering the stud services of a CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW WINNING dog

Errrr......did I miss that article in the Kennel Gazette or the Breed Record Supplement? Or even in Dog World/Our Dogs? Just WHEN did the KC recognise these dogs as pedigree?

Money grabbing chavs with NO consideration for the welfare of their dogs or the amount of worthy dogs needing homes in rescue - they are in it for MONEY and nothing else!!!

Perhaps it's ME who's the mug for only paying £300 for Tina and her impeccable pedigree which is 'only' made up of whippets :- "

my stanley maurice is a iggy x whippy and id like to think of him as a designer xbreed rather than a mongrel. but whatever he is described as he is my little star,

iv seen most of those dogs before and i think they are in rescues defifinatly the whippet,

can i juat say who ever wrote it must have pinched the idea from k9 cause there was a post on here with all the k9ers designer doggies and a catdog (w00t)

i have to say i think its quite good its a good way to point out to people that these dogs are just crosses not somthing extra special that warents paying thousands of ££££ for.

well hopefully its educating the muppets who pay out astronomical prices for mongrels as to exactly what they are!mongrels with a posh name.how stupid some people are.never ceases to amaze me.and theres always some cretin out there waiting to cash in by breeding them for this market. what also annoys me is that they are taking a home up by breeding these dogs that is desperately needed by rescues who cant rehome all the dogs they get and dogs will die because of this.not that the cash hungry breeders of these mongrels are bothered about that!the welfare of dogs is way down on their list of priorities :(

I agree, the prices are sometimes well over the top. Having said that if theres a market someone will always fill the gap with whatever is needed. Sad for the dogs. The demand seems to dictate the extreme prices. Even KC registered dogs command various prices from cheap to expensive depending on if they're the "in" dog of the moment. I've just realized this post is some sort of joke. (sorry I'm new on here). :x

dont be sorry ive just caught on too

Archie is wonderful - he doesn't need a fancy made-up name, he is a LURCHER and should be rightfully proud of it

I don't think the article was a joke, just a means of getting over what needs to be said.

I applaud the article and wish it would reach all the mugs who fall for these 'designer ' breeds. As the author says they can be sourced at rescue centres etc if thats what someone really wants.

I agree, anyone would be proud to have such a handsome lurcher.

When i was a child these dogs were called street accidents and you had to give them away as no one wanted to pay for them. Then it was decided that to make sure they had a good home a price was put on them. Now you have to pay big bucks for someones sales slather. I met a woman not so long ago with a beautiful ball of black fluff with attitude and it was some kind of oodle. She paid £400 for it.

Lovely dog but I think she was ripped off.

Someone had a mishap one day and used sales techniques and the foolish to line their bank balance. The shameful thing is several people saw how lucrative it was and jumped on the band wagon.

It's nice to see a bit of reality being shown here. Up and down the country in several rescue/shelters there are dogs crying out for Some TLC and for a small exchange of cash you can do this. Make a dogs day and take it home with you.

There will be something there to suit everyone so why not go there pick up a bargain and shower it with love and several goodies to play with.

Can these mongrels end up at Crufts?

Yes of course they can and why not, because before long there will be an authority on these dogs who will create a breed standard. Like all dog showing and breeding if you cant make your name in the larger group of dogs import something unusual from abroad and become a big fish in a small pond. And if that doesnt get you anywhere, create something no one has and make it important.

It's like a lot of things we buy that we dont need, because other have them and they claim them to be next must have, we all trundle down to the shops to get one.
