im looking at getting a new dog bed, and iv found one i like, only think is im not sure wheather to get them one each or one huge one to share?

they share a crate and love to huddle up together, but at the same time when they are on the sofa they usually go to opposit sides and spread out, (which i always kinda think they do it so we have to sit on the floor)

any help on what to do?

the 2 smaller bed to the one huge bed both work out about the same price so thats not a deciding factor :(

what would your dogs prefer?

My dogs have various beds some big and some wee so they can choose . Some days may be a lets cuddle up day and others I want to be alone

My two whippets have an Anderson Igloo bed big enough for the two of them - sometimes they both sleep in it, but sometimes one or both will sleep in one of the other beds, so I can't really advise as mine seem to chop and change beds.

definatley one to share,i have different sizes and they all prefer to sqeeze into one

well as i am the sad owner of just one whippet and im unloved and not allowed another one...i cant possibly comment on this topic :(

(anyone feeling sorry for me yet)

I have 3 beds in the living room....and one big one in the kitchen....sometimes they like to cuddle up together,

but sometimes they prefer their own space. Im lucky enough to have a large sofa downstairs which only the dogs use

but there are also 2 beds in that room too....just in case... :teehee:

I would say buy two decent size ones...and then they can always squeeze into one if they prefer...

I was actually looking at your lovely photos of Gypsy and remembering the days when I had only one....

it was still really nice with one...  and the dogs dont know any difference... :p and of course get more spoiled..

Well Gypsy certainly doesn't look sad!!!

She looks very contented

....... and she is the most important one, after all :- :D

I have a selection of big beds everywhere, katie, they tend to like their own space but occasionally

they will huddle up together. If you get two smaller beds you'll probably find they both get in one

together anyway

I agree that is the best solution. At this minute all six dogs are on the human sized bed in the dog room but they often spread themselves around the six floor beds. Choice is everything!

Mine are only pups (15 weeks) but they have not yet been known to sleep apart :huggles: They have a big bed in their crate to share and are allowed on the sofa so they could spread out or separate if they wanted but never have. I always have a fleece blanket on the floor for them to make nests in, but again they only do this together. They always sleep at the same time, and always together. Aww.

I'd go for one big bed - if you get two little ones I bet they'd both try to squeeze into one!

She is the most gorgeous whippet though Hely, look at her little face

My boys have a selection, so they can pick and choose depending how snuggly they feel.

An Anderson (igloo) bed, which one or both of them can normally be found in and then a couple of boring old dog cushions, and of course the sofa if they would prefer a cuddle with me instead of each other.

I do find that most of the time they go in their igloo together but the choice is their if they want it

I have three dog beds so they can choose (medium-large) and more often than not they sleep together :huggles: more Baileys decision than Rocky's  The beds are like big brown fabric/suede doughnut shaped and I have put one on top of the other for even more softness and they love being higher up :teehee:

We have 2 whippets and they like to have the choice...

one thing they really love is (as someone said) to be high up...

so we put one bed inside their cage and one bed goes on top of the cage.

They take turns (and sometimes share) about who goes where.

Sometimes it's 2 up high, sometimes 2 inside, and sometimes 1 up, 1 down! :teehee:

she is isnt she......i would love another one though, but im not sure gypsy would agree with that :teehee:

ahhh! you lucky peeps, having room for so many beds,

unfortunatly we do not have room to give them a selection.

hely, life would be so much simpler with just one, wouldnt need to be asking questions like this for one lol

and gypsy looks like she loves every minute of her undevided attention

etsy- ruby and star used to be like that, untill the got a bit bigger and legs got in the way, or one of them had bad gas and stinks out the crate, or house for that matter :x

my 2 were joined at the hip untill a month or so ago, but now its a hit or a miss wheather or not they want to hug together or not?

ahhh im so confussed,

cant remember who said it, but the idea of getting a smaller one and a bigger one may be a plan.

think they do small, medium, large and jumbo, i was looking at getting 2 medium or one jumbo, but maybe getting a small and a large is a plan  need to get the measuring tape out again

:)) You will never have too many beds - I have 10 beds between 5 whippets (yes, I am a dogbedaholic).By far the most popular with my lot are the Anderson beds which can contain 3 snuggled up whippets. Brilliant for nervous dogs in storms or on firework night. The next best that I could recommend are large rectangular pads, with washable covers, I have one large which could take 3 whippets and a smaller one which I put on top of the large one when I need a bit more floor space. When one bed is piled on top of another most whippets will find this irresistable - you will find a post from December all about piled up dog beds! Good luck :luck:

the anderson is the ultimate dog bed, mine love them ,we have two and 4 doughnut beds ,plus they have two sofas in the back room where the wood burner is,they all like different beds,at the moment theres three in a doughnut, the girls are on the sofas ,finleys cuddled up next to me and oliver is in one of the andersons (w00t) so all are different but mostly the boys like to cuddle up :p

Beds have been a headache to me too and I've made some buying mistakes  .

First mistake was to think Skye would be only a little bigger than Phoebs but she grew out of her puppy bed almost immediately whereas Phoeb can still curl up in it now (w00t) .

Second mistake was to underestimate the size of one big bed for them to share - Skye's legs get in the way and she does like to stretch out and can take over. They have a bed each in the kitchen where they go overnight and when we are out and a shared one in the living room which can become a fight zone if I don't stop either one of them taking ownership, they do snuggle in there if I tell off squabbling.

Katie, I would be wary of buying one big and one small as they may squabble over the 'best' bed. It is a minefield and I would experiment if you can with perhaps an old duvet or something before you spend money and then realise any mistake, I've wasted loads of money :-

If it's any help I can measure their beds when I'm at home later?
