With Spry I wanted a fast name ,whippetish,so Spry(quick and sprightly) :D

With kane I looked up boys names and saw Cane I liked that but with a K :D

Keano - i wanted to call him after a Glasgow Celtic player but my OH is a Rangers player and was having none of it. My mum from cork just like the player i named him after and said why dont you name him after Roy Keane. So we did and guess who ended up playing for Celtic (w00t) (w00t) lets just say my OH wasnt happy :D :D

Jake - my dad used to get called this when he was younger

Molly - I just liked this name thought it was sweet and incconet  however she didnt turn out that way

Sonny - My mum came up with this one thought it suited him

Kim - Seemed like a nice pretty doggie name

Skye - Named after the island as its soo beutiful just like her

love this thread

Poeme - Cos her dad was called Poet & both he & his litter were born on 25th January Burns day!! & its also my fave perfume

Button - Cos she was as cute as one :- "

Demi - Cos Demi Demi Moore is my fave actress :)

Scoots - He was the one still scooting round the puppy pen at 3am -_-

Munchie Crunchie - cos he looked just like a digestive biccy (w00t)

Just a few of my terrors :teehee:

Freddie - we inherited his name, as we were given him when he was 9.

Bobbie - my granny always called her dogs Bobbie, and I liked it. Also it was close to her rescue name Bambi, which I was not so keen on.

Philip - at request of a person who wanted him, then called him Albert, neglected him and then gave him back to us - thank god - the poor little thing. The name Philip has stuck ever since.

Billie - it suited her

Pearl - my nephews chose the name and it was perfect for her.

Ive mentioned on similar threads that our dogs are named after David Bowie songs.

The pups on the other hand, i had an idea on a couple of names. My little lad wanted a dog called Busta and i wanted to call one Snoop so figured i had to name the lads after rappers!!

The girls were going to be given precious names like their mum Diamond, so Ruby (i love that name  ) Sapphire and Pearl it was. Harley was named as soon as she was born due to the harlequin on her head.

Brian, well, why not? He's the biggest lad and the Arctic Monkeys song is a bit of a favourite at the minute. After observing the litter and believe it or not i have already assessed their characters the first lines from the song suited him down to a T:

Brian

Top marks for not trying

So I'd like you to bless us with your effortlessness

We'd wait for and so trained and comforted

Im at a loss at their KC names though. I have a couple but not sure how many letters you can have? This is the MOON litter so will be duly named accordingly.

I suppose they will have normal names when they go to their new homes :(

I quite like strong sounding names, I took ages deliberating over Archies but liked it as it has a strong sound and isn't too long and can't be shortened to anything too offensive!

Stanley - kind of fitted in with the 'old man name' theme - whippets I think do well with human names and I prefer them to the trendier modern names. However I soon regretted calling him Stan when I use the word 'stand' for training them on the table  Stan stand etc etc

Deliberated for ages over the new little ladies name, and finally settled on Peggy-Sue  - I just thought you couldn't mistake Peggy for any other name and I haven't heard of any other whippets called Peggy. Also it kind of fits in with the older name theme.

My dad had an Airdale called Peggy when he was a young man, sadly it died whilst he was away in the airforce in WW2 :( . She liked to sleep in front of the fire and was so huge she blocked all the warmth for any one else!

be careful who you are calling an 'old man' there Jo  .... my dad is Stanley and gets Stan, my brother is Malcolm and still gets young 'Stan ' too  .... so that name is very well used in our house too. :)

and Archies name is one of my favourites... :)

a word of warning on the name alfie!!! my son is very much an alfie!!!! cute lovely all that lovely stuff but boy is he a live wire!!! all the dogs at varoius clubs i go to who are called alfie are little beggars!!!! (w00t)

so janis yes we NEED an ALFIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paola was named Paola.. cause she is an Italian Greyhound!

Lani - she came to us when 3 years old and her name som Mani - sounded like English word for 'money' and I did not want to be seen running around Dubai shouting: Money, Money!! So we just changed M to L.

Sasha. Her real name is Vasilisa Krasa - a character from a Russian tale - means The Beautiful Vasilisa. The breeders called her Vasya but my Kiwi BF could not even pronounce it properly ..so we called her Sasha - links her to the heritage anyways..

And Carla - that was just to keep the 'girl names'.. thread... Paola, Carla, Sasha and Lana

I can't remember whose suggestion it was, but someone mentioned Solitaire for 'lonely' and I think that's brilliant  .

Tess- I don't really know why just liked the name.

Nana- after the courtesan from the book of that name by Emile Zola, because Tess was such a little flirt we assumed that Nana would be too, and because she is so pretty, but she turned out to be shy rather than a flirt.

Josephine- after Josephine Baker, OH named her really think it suits her though.

Esme- months and months of thinking to come up with this one. In the end OH chose it on the way home from visiting her for the first time at 4 weeks. She was almost spherical and covered in rice pudding and exactly the same colour as a donkey he'd had as a child who'd been called Esmeralda, so her 'proper' name is Lynperry Esmeralda Pudding and her home name is Esme. I worry that we have cursed her to be permanently fat and slow as a donkey.

Morgan; we wanted a fast name and thought of Mercedes and Jaguar but settled for the classic car version! Her KC name is Benroy Bichette of Zilloot. Bichette is french for darling.

Chloe; we just loved the name. Her KC name was Benroy Bootzilla's Back at Zilloot (w00t) Bootzilla is something to do with 70's glam rock (OH's idea  )

Zinzin; was originally going to be Jessica but came out kicking and fighting as a puppy and not girly at all (w00t) Zinzin is french for crazy which suits her perfectly  ... and her KC name is Zilloot Zinzin

Phoenix; he nearly died at 4weeks old from pneumonia among things.. and then rose like the bird to become a gorgeous young man. His KC name is Zilloot Zoot Allures

The Supermodel; Well, she started out as Jade from the colour of her eyes but there was a terrible TV show called Big Brother which had an appalling character called Jade in it and we didn't want the association, but it was too late to change it too much because she's not terribly bright :p . She's called 'JJ' now, at home, which I don't really like either but it was the only thing she would answer to! Her KC name is Therpan Tickle of Zilloot and I really wish I'd called her 'Tickle' right from the start!

Milly; OH's choice for a sensible working labrador. He really wanted to call her 'Taxi' but I refused to shout Taxi in the middle of the woods :p He also needed a name that wouldn't attract attention on shoots :D Her full KC name is Maudlin Eclipse.

Zoomie; well iggies zoom about all over the place don't they!! He's Artmeis Mr Zoom

Lottie; Lottie's name came from Phantom of the Opera but she's mostly known as 'Lottie-bottie-boo-boo' at home. (OH calls her Ittle-bittle because she's the smallest in the house) Her KC name is Rilloby Carlotta Mia (of course  )

Phew.... what a pile :sweating:

My lot are

Owen named after Micheal Owen by my son he usually answers to Ojo or Jojo

Bandit came with that name and is a shortened version of his kc name Barnesmore El Bandito

Tegan I just saw the name on TV and liked it she was always going to be Tegan before we even met her

Rosie I named as a tiny puppy just thought it suited her

Blade is OH's idea

As was Angel who is definitely not

William came to us as Willie which I refused to stand in the park shouting so he is now William or Wills

Zoe OH decided when he had a red head it had to be Zoe so when the loopy red setter arrived it had to be her

and the old man Jasper just suited him although he went to live with whitecross whippets and had it changed to Casper he is now back with us and back as Jasper

Think thats every one

The next fawn dog puppy I get I'm going to call him Hovis, because he will be brown bred.
