Today I met the most lovely lurcher. She is about 12-18 months old, about 25" (at a rough guess), she's a very dark grey almost black, smooth coat. She was hit by a car right outside the RSPCA animal hospital so could have been dumped outside in the hope of being taken in. She has suffered a broken right hind leg which has been pinned at the hospital.

As she was found on Feb 14th her name is Valentine

Three weeks later & no owner has come forward so she needs a home. At the moment she is recovering well but needs to have more company & very gentle excersise than can be managed at the vets.

We would love to find her a permanent home but atm a foster home in Manchester area would be great as the pin needs to be reassessed & probably removed in about 3 weeks time.

I very tentatively mentioned it to my OH but he's against it. I know he's right as our house is not the most restful of places & of course we don't know what she's like with cats or other dogs.

She is very friendly to people & was all over me within minutes of me seeing her, she would win "dog with the waggiest tail anyday".

If anyone is able to help with fostering all food & vets expenses will be provided by RSPCA for the duration of fostering (prob about 4 weeks till the pin is removed )

You can either PM me or phone 0161 477 8364 if you can help in anyway :luck:

Thanks.

Julie & Valentine

ps. if anyone knows how to cross post this onto the lurcher page I'd be grateful

im not too far away but i dont think two 5 month old puppies would create a peacefull enviroment im afraid :(

good luck in finding her a home :luck:

wishing valentine all the luck in finding a home :luck: :luck: :luck:

Thanks for your replies, I have spent this morning phoning around & had arranged a foster home for Valentine at another RSPCA branch. But when I phoned the Animal Hosp to make arrangements I was given some really GOOD NEWS :)) :))

A long standing client at the vets has recently lost her old dog (not good news :( ) and can't imagine life without another lurcher so she was introduced to Valentine & of course fell in love with her cos she's that sort of dog

So, what a difference a day makes, I think it's quite strange how these things happen, she was in there for 3 weeks with no interest & then all of a sudden we have 2 places for her. But a permanent home is the best result we could hope for

I'm also quite relieved that I don't have to divorce Neil to allow me to bring her here :- "

:huggles: Wonderful news for everyone, I'm so pleased
