I'm now able to tell you that Byron is going to be living in Scotland with Linda & Tony (anslinmcg), and his litter sister "Racey Macey McGregor"! (Linda told me I was allowed to make the announcement- I think she may be just a little bit excited!) It looks as though we will be taking him up to his new home on Friday 22nd April.

I will be sorry to see Byron go, as he is such a wonderful little chap, and though we have only had him for 7 weeks, there will be a Byron-shaped hole in my heart. However, I feel a lot better now, knowing that he is going to a fantastic new home, and that he will be able to play with his sister. I will also deeply miss Clara, though it's not quite so bad, seeing as she is with Jo just a few miles away.

I'm hoping that now that Byron has found a home, this thread can come to a close. I will be honest, the negative responses- especially those from people who have been so friendly up until now- have really knocked me for six, and I think it's fair to say that I will think twice before posting anything again. I will still read the forum, especially so I can keep up to date with Byron and his siblings, but this whole experience has really shaken my confidence, and I think a lot of people would rather I stayed away from the forum altogether. Once again, I'm genuinely sorry if my posts have caused any offence, and I am sorry that I have said too much about certain things and people.

Please don't stay away.

Really glad Byron's got a good home to go to - and so quickly too! Good luck with Daisy and PLEASE don't stay away - the more people that input into k9 with the most different views the better ... we just all need to try not to take things too personally!

its just took me ages reading all this and in my opinion is byron still has a loving home , now with his sister :luck: loads of luck and years of happiness with your new pup "byron"

HOORAY! to Byron and his new family. Glad things have worked out for all concerned

I'm so glad Byron has found a new home. Let's face it, it wasn't going to take long 'cos he's such a sweetie. You will miss him I'm sure, but as you say, you can take comfort from the fact he's gone to a very good home. It must be a great weight off your shoulders.

Pls don't leave the foum...I for one really enjoyed reading your previous posts. You must be very shaken and upset and it would be very difficult not to take all this personally even though I think the debate moved on from your original post and sort of gained a momentum of its own.

after reading all the pages here which has taken me ages and ive missed all me favourite tv programs (dam!)all i can say is this.life is very short and none of us are perfect,we ALL make mistakes,we all usually pay for them too.in view of all this is it too much to ask for a little compassion here folks? :) im sure we all have one thing in common and thats love of our dogs,so couldnt we extend that a little to LOVE OF OUR FELLOW MAN TOO?if not love then a bit of understanding wouldnt come amiss.and maybe forgiveness?let him who is without sin cast the first stone. :b weve all done things in our lives wed rather forget about and we dont want reminding of,but at the time they happened wouldnt it have made it that bit easier if someone had been there with a kind word or gesture.think about it.one day it might be you. ;)

Can I just say something here.

I tried in my usual inept way to deflect where this thread was heading but it's way back on course for a written slanging match again.

The whole situation is a mess. There are several people who are getting hurt. Rosalind, Susan and in particular Jill who bred this pup and cared for him during the first few weeks of his life.

Personally I am concerned about Jill and her feelings in all of this - I think that the same is true of several people on here.

Can we all please remember that Jill lost her beloved Jack only a few weeks ago. She had to search all day for days until she found him. Does she need this to thread going on like this.

Byron is okay. Rosalind has decided in his best interests he should go to a new home and she has found him one. That's all that matters. Byron is going to be okay.

Clara has also found a loving home with Scott and Joey and I know that she's being loved to bits with them.

The dogs are safe people. Humans are hurting and this isn't helping.

come on everyone-it must be a good topic-almost 4000 people have veiwed it and its only a day old! :- "

Yes, I asked Jill to keep a lookout for potential owners, but I didn't mean that she would be the only one to do so. At the risk of stating the obvious, Byron is (or was) MY puppy- so it would be up to me who I let have him, anyway. Jill is fantastic, and she did a brilliant job of bringing up the puppies- but why should somebody else have the right to decide who Byron lives with, on the basis of the fact that their dog is the dam/sire? They wouldn't expect to pay Byron's vets' fees, or insurance, or pay for his toys, food etc, would they?

First of all I have to declare an interest I am Susan's husband. I don't know what the deal was that you made with Jill when you bought the pup but we made it clear (to Jill) that if there was any problems after Jill sold on the pups and one (or more) had to be found another home we would try and help if we could. Nobody said that that Byron was not yours or said that Jill or Susan had a say because their dogs were the parents (not sure if parents is the right word) but you did ask for help to find a home for Byron and we were more than happy to help out if we could. I am sorry that you had to find homes for two of your dogs and hope that the one you have still with you enjoys a happy life. I am pleased that you offered Byron for sale on here (K9) as it has let him go and live with his sister and he I am sure that you will find some comfort in that. But I would say that there is a part of me that would ask if you made the right decission bringing another dog into a house where there was a history of the two dogs (past or present) not getting on.

I do not feel that this thread should be closed as there are other threads that in my opinion are more opinionated than this one that are still open to posts and I am sure that if the moderators felt that a post should be deleted they would do so as they have in the past.

As for others who have stated their opinion about the cost of the pups I am quite sure that nobody forced anybody to buy a pup. It has also been mentioned that they are not KC registered yes this is true but we can provide a pedagree for the sire that goes back as far as most KC registered Whippets (but that has been debated before on another thread). The reason that I mention this is that the origonal post states that the sire is a Racing Champion but some would say so what it is not KC registered I would say why mention it if it was just about finding a home for a dog and not just raising its profile.

as for the financial side of things, its clear now that buying the pup was stretching things for you,as for everyone defending this side of the argument-would you sell a pup to a home that had 2 dogs with past problems and considered the pup as a financial write off?
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

You have missed the point totally here. To pay for the pup when you were going to HAVE him is not a financial write-off. You haven't LOST the money because you've GOT THE DOG. To NOT have him when you only paid for him seven weeks ago and have a ton of other financial worries on your shoulders in a hurry - it was not unreasonable for Rosalind to ask what she paid for him.

And I actually think it was NICE of her to do a bit of work in trying to find him a home rather than just dumping him back on the breeder and saying YOU DO IT. Have that happen to you a number of times and then see how you feel about some irresponsible puppy buyers treating you as the dumping ground just because you're the breeder. She asked for help from her breeder but also tried to make an effort herself and so many of you are condemning her for that? More importantly she was not rehoming this dog on a whim. She was rehoming him IN HIS and Daisy's BEST INTERESTS - a lot of people seem to have forgotten that. She didn't WANT to give him up - she felt she HAD to.
