Hi, well I have had a wide range of comments about my boy from, "is it a Pharoh dog", is it a seal, a meer cat and the old favourites - "by he's big for a whippet" and "is he a baby greyhound" :D

I thought I had heard it all but whilst out on a walk yesterday we heard a little boy saying to his Mam - "that dog looks like a white mouse"

a meer cat?

a seal?

a tiger?

surely not a mouse?

Whatever next?

awwww hes lovely

we get the baby greyhound one as well, and someone told us she looked like a baby deer

Well I think he is very cute and handsom :))

what is his breeding (i am not often in general discussions...) you may send a PM if you want

I do like the photo of his chicken hunting trophee :)

aww what a lovely boy you have. I love the picture of him on his back legs

We sometimes get things like that, you don't see many whippets around here so alot aren't too sure. I've had puppy greyhound, big ears, bambi, and one that I found amusing was a child saying to their friend that dog looks like Pinocchio  I don't think kids are used to seeing dogs with whippet and greyhound features.

The other day, some walkers we met on the bridleway said they thought Ruby was a deer when they first saw her :teehee: Maybe it's the way she bounds about.

Lisa, Your whippet is a sweetie, whether doing a meer cat impression or a tiger, but bit big for a mouse. :huggles:

Ha ha - how funny I had missed that completely - a rabbit - it gets worse! The other thing which you just highlighted is that most people think he is a girl - poor lad, no wonder he seems so confused at times :D

hes a handsome lad thats for sure  :huggles:

What a gorgeous boy you have! I also get the baby greyhound thing all the time and i've had the deer comments too (although I happen to agree with that).

BUT the weirdest two comments i've had is one from a small child that pointed to Merlin and said ''look dad a kangaroo'' and on another occasion another little boy informed us that in his opinion Merlin looked like a werewolf. (w00t)

Aw he is gorgeous

Sidney gets called a baby greyhound..... it made me laugh to begin with but when you correct them and say no he is a whippet, they still look away to their family and go, 'have you seen this baby greyhound'!

Wow, what a really lovely boy!

Ive been told that my little Ziggy looks like a sea horse. We also have that rubber chicken, minus its toes!

Funny you should say that because i've commented before that mine look like sea horses when they're asleep.

I get these:

"Aww is she the puppy ?" (6 and a half year old mother of 2 litters)

"Is that one of those little greyhounds ?" (I presume they think Jessi is an iggy)

"It's a baby Greyhound !!!" (Blazey-Mo my one-eyed angel)

"If that's the Mummy (of Jessi and Talli) then is that the Daddy ?" (No, Blazey Mo is a girl)

The only one anyone thinks is a whippet is Talli, but they think she's a peddie :- "

What a very talented whippet you have being able to do all those impressions - he should get his own TV show - it would be better than most of the rubbish that's on the telly most nights! Oh - he's very handsome too

Aww I love your first picture....lovely...  and just love the coat...its really nice.

 We don't meet anyone when we're out but the neighbours have, collectively, shown complete ignorance about whippets (w00t)

"Are they rescue greyhounds?" ............... what?!! (w00t)

"What is it?" ............ a whippet

"What's a whippet?" ............. didn't know what to say to this one

"Do they run?" .......... nah, not much :- "

"Are they fast?" ............ just a tad faster than your golden retriever :- "

"I thought whippets were those tiny, skinny little things" .............. think you mean iggies and they're not the same (no offence to iggies  )

How anyone could mistake a whippet for a completely different species like a mouse or a deer totally amazes me

Your boy is lovely

my brothers mate always reckoned my whippets looked like velociraptors.....

dunno where he got that from
