How come it seems to be that only this section of the forum always deteriorates into an argument???
It is very sad  :(   :(

It happens in all sections!

Generally this section is full of fun. It only degenerates when the people who seem to have an axe to grind because they cannot get an Iggy & generally have no experience of the breed start posting

Is this a dig?? I was only making an observation.

A few years ago we were considering having a Iggy,we knew of someone who owned and shows Iggys quite local. So one day we were invited to come and meet the Iggys at her home and spent a few hours with them and finding out about them.although they are adorable   we found they were scatty   .

We then after had a good talk about it and decided we would not have one, although they are gorgeous and very sweet.we decided to stick with our whippys. We have not regret our decision,we know we made the right one.Its just a pleasure to see them them in the ring and make a fuss of them.I spoke to someone last weekend at a show who got a whippy and a Iggy and unfornunately the Iggy has broken its leg,but is on the now mend :D

They are not for everyone

To be honest, the amount of home checks i have done & taken pups or adults along & the people say "Gosh i didn't know they were this mad/noisey/scatty/energetic/hyper etc.

If i had a pound for everytime someone has said to me "I thought they'd be just like a whippet only smaller" i'd be rich by now (w00t)

I think being able to see them in a home environment or even better your own home gives you a good idea as to what to expect & i would advise most people that they are NOT like whippets in any way :- "

I think there's something to be said for living with them rather than just quoting american sites (the breed situation in America is very different from the UK, but who would expect anyone who has not lived with the breed to understand that).  After all, we're told not to believe everything you read on the Internet.
OK, I'm intrigued. I'm living with an IG and a whippet in Eastern Europe. I have read Internet sites all over, as well as another IG forum and IG list. But apart from the issues of dog size and allowed colors I'm not sure how different the breed situations everywhere are. Could you elaborate on this a little? Or point me to somewhere to read on this. Thanks!
Bold applied by me.
