By law they are not allowed to use the money for defenceThe main mistake in my mind is that they left the children and they will have to live with that for the rest of their lives.

The Police dont seem to have handled it the way they would have over here and are maybe only realising that now.

When its too late to get the evidence they should have got in the first place.

Somethings not right but I dont think its the parents who are guilty or at least I hope not!!

what ? they should be bloody charged with neglect !!!! its happened in northern ireland umpteen times.

SAID IT BEFORE AND ILL SAY IT AGAIN IF THESE 2 PROFESSIONALS HADVE BEEN CHECK-OUT OPS IT WOULDVE BEEN A WHOLE DIFFERENT BALL-GAME

and if the child comes back i hope this charge is awaiting them.

john

Well, I'm going to disagree with you, John. I think you're wrong. It's not about being middle class or professionals or anything else to do with class  I doubt anyone in this situation would have been slammed with a neglect charge, and if you've got case histories to the contrary in Northern Ireland then I'd be interested to see them.

Those parents are being punished for what they've done every minute of every day... and they will probably never forgive themselves for the rest of their lives.

I guess that's me excluded from the stormydog harem, then? :- "

well heres another one too helen! i too dont think its anything to do with class.i think a lot of folk in this country have a big chip on their shoulders when it comes to people who are PERCEIVED as being of a diiferent class or group.this whole country is still riddled with the class system.ive heard this same old song on other sites about 'if they were off a council estate' etc etc.i wonder if they were off a council estate how much more sympathy they would have got from people. :- " or is it only middle class professional people who are 'acting suspicious' and 'not showing enough grief' and who can kill their children?would they be perceived as innocent if they were from a council estate? i keep my fingers crossed that this little girl is still alive and will be returned to her parents who are im sure loving and caring despite what some people think about them :luck: i cant think how on earth they have coped with the last few awful months. :( none of us can possibly know how they feel unless weve been in their shoes.and heaven forbid any of us ever is :(

EXACTLY what I think but you're much more articulate than me! Thank you.

:huggles: to Kris.

and  about the harem  what if I don't want to be in it??

Assuming that the parents are innocent for the moment;

They still have to accept that they are partly responsible for what happened to their daughter. They left three very yong children alone that night. Anything could have happened them and unfortunatley something did.

But I question wether they should actually be charged with neglect; I can't even begin to imagine what they are going through and they have to live with what happened their daughter as a result of their desicion to leave them unattended that night.

It's totally unacceptable that they did so. I wouldn't pop in to my neighbours across the street for a cup of tea when my kids are in bed; never mind go for a meal leaving them in a strange place.... Why do that when there was a creche and babysitting facilities available?

THATS ALL IVE SAID HERE GULTY OF NEGLECT

I do think the whole car thing is odd. I really really can't believe that anyone could have concealed a body for that long with the police crawling all over the place, not to mention the media. Then somehow spirited it into the hire car (and lets face it, in that heat, its going to be more soup than body) without anyone seeing or noticing... disposed of it also without anyone noticing... and kept up appearances 24/7...

However cold people think they are, this is their child we're talking about :( no one could be that cold and calculating FOR ALL THESE MONTHS.

DNA evidence could, in this case be misleading I feel. An unwashed towel, a hairbrush with some of her hair on it, toys that she had handled; things like these could have shed some of her DNA in the car. The scientists can now detect very small traces of it and in this instance it possibly could have got there in a totally innocent manner.

theres a lady on my local site who was saying the same thing this week.she was pulled over by the police last week as they had a blockage in the road and were turning traffic around.she felt guilty cos she had a fault with the car and was worried the police would see it and charge her.she said she suddenly got verbal diarrhoeah(sp) when the policeman asked her to turn her car round.she just started rabbiting on about all kinds of rubbish until the policeman said madam will you please shut up and turn your car round? she said i know its a different thing but im just telling you this to show you how nervous we are when were hiding something from someone in authority.i agree with her.police officers and detectives study body language and they know what signs to look for when someone is lying.and unless youre a very experienced criminal who is used to being interrogated and lying to the police i think most people would mess up in the first hour or so.if when first questioned the parents were showing signs of lying and hiding something the police would know it and would have kept with a line of questioning the parents and wouldnt have been looking any further as most child abductions and murders are comitted by someone who knows the child.so theyd have kept with the mcCanns.this to me speaks volumes for why the mcCanns are innocent

as a ex prison officer who worked in a womans prison, i came across some very cold, evil women who had done horrendous things to their children including murder.
