Hi

Well spoke to Annette, the neuor vet and she wants to do the hand over, so we have to wait until 3 now, but hey what is 4 hours!!!

Well she has an ulcer or tear on her cornea (sp) but we are getting two lots of drops - artificial tears and antibiotics for a max of two week. We will have to check that she is hydrated as she is coming off the drop and will still need water by syringe. She was on metacam but due to the colitis they were giving her injections.

When we bring her home Annette does not want her to have any metacam or a tens machine, but seems very comfortable with her coming home so quickly!! May be they have had enough of her singing!!!!

I also said I have a brilliant bunch of guys who I could call upon at the drop of a hat for advice, which Annette was a good thing!! Thanks - you know who you are XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Will try and post tomorrow but I may be a wee bit excited!!!!!!!!

Night all

Can't wait for an update :))

Hi everyone

Sorry I can't be happier but Macey can't get home today as there was too much blood in her bowel movement.

They are keeping her on a drip and givign her antibiotics as it may be a bug she has picked up.

The poor wee soul was so pleased to see us as we were half way there when they phoned to say she was not coming home so we decided to continue and see her.

I have now seen the MRI scans and basically a piece of bone has speared part of her spinal cord, pre dominately on the left side and so her left eye is not the same as her right and she has more movement on her right hand side. We have been shown her physio and advised what we need to do when she comes home, but to leave to wee mite there was so heart breaking.

God I miss her so much, though the food is safe on the work tops I wish she was home.

Will keep you all up to date when we have her home.

Jenna only worked out yesterday that Macey was not at home and then told her dad off for not having Macey on a lead LOL. She is too old for her years lol lol!! Jenna knows now that Macey has to stay with the doctor as she is still not well and need more tablets - children eh!!

Sorry that I cannot give you the news you and I wanted to hear.

I bet you were thrilled to see her...and cant wait to have her home where she belongs...Peggy had to stay at the vets about 4/5 days...i hated it, she also had a MRI scan, we were lucky the day after her accident there was a mobile MRI unit not too far away from us otherwise we would had to drive to cambridge...i was in such a state i dont think i could of drove there

wishing you all the best :luck:

We were lucky the accident was at 8pm and they only do MRIs on Tuesday an Thursday at Glasgow so when I phoned on the Tuesday for advice, I called the vet and asked him to get her in that day!!!

Bless her little heart, however hard it is (and it must be) for you, she is in the right place where they can care for her immediate medical needs, so she'll be all ready to come home and stay at home when the time is right

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Take Care

Awwww so sorry to hear she is not back home with you yet :( As meddling said at least she is in the right place and better to be safe than sorry :luck: :luck: :luck: Hope to hear the good news that she is home very soon :huggles: :luck:

This really struck a cord with me as it has obviously with others. My whippet cross ran into a bicycle last year and broke her neck and she is still here, weak on her right side but running and walking out with us. Gets tired on longer walks and I have to lead walk her sometime to ensure she doesn't overdo it.

All I can say is physio, physio, physio and hydrotherapy as soon as your little one is able to. I am so glad you may have her home soon. Maisie was at vets for ages because I work but I saw her nearly everyday and it is so good to get them back with you. This is a link to Maisies' website at the vets written by the therapists who refused to give up on her, which is why I recommend physio so much as soon as she is stable enough.

Also you may get some difficult advice from lots of people. Some of my closest friends kept talking about having her put to sleep because of her (and mine) 'quality of life'. But I got some really supportive phone calls too. My best friend wouldn't come with me to see Maisie at the vets because it upset her so much and I learned a bit more about that friend that I had known before...

Thinking of you loads.

So sorry you've not got Macey home yet, but she's where she needs to be. My dachsie with the broken back was away from us for nearly two weeks and we missed him terribly but it's harder to keep them quiet and still at home. I'm sure you'll soon have her back with you though and as others have said the more physio etc. you can do the quicker she'll recover. Be well Macey :)

Ah, Linda :( I know how heartbreaking it is to have to leave them away from home but Macey will be much better for it :)

I hope you get the positive news you are waiting for very soon and that she will soon be back where she belongs for the road to recovery  :huggles: :huggles:

Well got a call this morning from the vet and she said she had more blood and poo, but all the tests are coming back negative, so it looks more like stress.

Fingers crossed she will be home soon.

Thanks for all your pms and calls.

Linda xx

I do hope Macey is home with you soon, she'll start to feel much better in her own surroundings  :)
