my opinoin for what it's worth .
i don't want whippet traps at a bend event, also i would'nt like to see the big dogs capped after all you still get dogs over 50lb out of whippet x greyhound, all iam against is using a  dog that's whippet x greyhound to a full greyhound or vise versa how can they be classed as whippets no matter what size they turn out. :- "

that sounds sensible enuf john.

il just point out that mickey whizz was bred from whizziwig who was 38lb bred from crazy cracker ( yd per 1lb) & ghd to mickey mouse who i believe was 22lb? and mickey whizz weighed in @ 50lb u cant say wot size your dog is gonna go to u can guess but u cant be 100% mickey whizz was only 15lb @ 13 weeks. our new pup nikki is 17lb @ 12 weeks.

feds given trophies for all scratch racing all year plus 100 percent pay out all dogs no matter the size should be treated equally  we all pay the same money

think my number is on the post graham if i wanted to discuse it over here i would not have put my number on.thats why its says NO TYRE KICKER think u know wot i mean bye that.and why  it bothers me is iv been in this game along time and all i can see is arguement after arguement and the sport going down hill so the quicker people sort it all out the better SOMEONE MAY COME UP WITH A GOOD IDEAR WHO KNOWS.And what gets me is that if a dog/bitch as run all season on the straights and then runs the bends for more points and some one that only runs the bends and takes the points.well i think its a big out of order.soon they get the whippet traps on the bends the better (MY OPPINION)
I ALSO HAVE BEEN IN THE SPORT ON AND OFF SINCE 1977 SO IVE SEEN ALOT OF CHANGES IN THE SPORT.

IM SO SORRY IF YOU THINK WE HAVE TAKEN ANY POINTS OF ANY DOGS BY RUNNING OUR DOGS MAYBE WE SHOULD NOT RUN THEM TO KEEP YOU HAPPY.

MIGHT BE A GOOG IDEA TO HAVE GREYHOUND TRAPS AT STRAIGHT OPENS GET REAL MAN.

YOU PAY YOUR MONEY AND TAKE YOUR CHANCES.

ILL PM YOU MY NO MAYBE WE CAN HAVE A CHAT ON THE PHONE

WELL I WILL TELL YOU ALL NOW IF THEY CAP THE SCRATCH RACING I WILL PACK UP FOR GOOD SO THATS AT LEAST 10 DOGS  GONE FROM RACING

AND IM SURE OTHERS WILL FOLLOW

GARY

:))

there's nobody likes to watch scratch racing more than me but the way some of the dogs have been bred over the last few year they are just not whippets .

who's mentioned anything about putting a cap on the bigguns i would'nt like that to happen, all iam talking about is the way they are bred if you look at the organisations bwra nnwrf the W stands for whippet .

and IF there was a vote to put a cap on i would'nt vote because i dont race in scratch races.

again just my opinion :))

u haven't had a dog running for a while George  :- " cant see why your so narky about it  :)) if you had been at the last 4 or 5 opens you might have a different view it is in my opinion getting better and better    but people wanting to cap the no limit are the ones it doesn't really affect    im sure some 40 or 36b for that matter are good enough to take the no limit on :))   tell me a no limiter that could of beaten son of a bitch i cant think of one or casino  :- "  so really size shouldn't come into it i think wanting to cap the no limit is coming from thoughtless people that dont really think it through  and i dont mean u George :p    just my opinion  if graham only wants to run the bends thats his choice same as people only wanting to run straights, hope you stay with racing George we need it to get stronger and more positive  NO LIMIT means NO LIMIT wish i had a decent one .like it just as much as yard a pounders but the cracks better with the scratch
GOT TO AGREE WITH YOU THERE. THERE HAS BEEN AND STILL IS ALOT OF 36LB & 40LB DOGS THAT ARE GOOD ENOUGH TO TAKE ON THE NO LIMITS

Has a cap been proposed for next year ?

sorry for my ignorance i was not at the agm ....did hear something was mentioned about all scr dogs having to run on the straight a couple of times to qualify to race the bends, but weather this is true or not i don't know so dont quote me

shrug.gif

If Denise is right and the big dogs have got to run at a couple of straight meets to qualify to run on the bends, will it matter where they run.Hope not cause I can only get Harvey into Maltby traps  must say though the whole capping thing sounds ridiculous. :D Karen

WHAT ABOUT STRAIT DOGS HAVEING TO RUN ON THE BENDS, IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR THE STRAIT SEASON... WHAT A LOAD OF BOLLOCKS.

AND AS FAR AS BREEDING THREE QUATER GREYHOUNDS JUST LATLEY,.. WELL I STARTED NONE PED RACING, 11 YEARS AGO, AND WHO WAS IT ON THE BENDS,... CORNISH BOB,.. STAG PARTY, ..THE SIGN..AND MORE, AND ALL THREE QUATER GREYHOUND.... SO IN MY EYES, IT MUST HAVE ALWAYS GONE ON.

as far as im aware someone once again proposed a 49lb limit on the no limit  but it was argued against thankfully and @ the finish it must have been thought unworkable. but u can bet the next time its proposals soneone else will propose it.

COUNT ME IN GARY ,WE'LL GO LURCHER RACING WAIT FOR IT.....................

Right I've got to ask this as it's been bugging me a long time, is there actually a limitation to how much greyhound can be used and where is the line drawn on what's discerened as a whippet and what quantifies as being a greyhound?

Looking at old Pathe videos I'd agree that there was plenty of scratch dogs racing and databases on here demonstrate a healthy use of greyhound blood in their lineage. So I don't see why it should be phased out now? Also what would happen if greyhound blood wasn't introduced? Would the breed become smaller? I ask because I would of thought Tony Taylors litter would of produced scratch dogs (the lineage would certainly make you think that) but it's clearly not been the case.

I don't have an opinion on what should be raced, my own lad is a scratch dog and TBH I'd sooner race in big classes as if your lucky enough to do well then it holds more personal value as a win. Like Gary pointed out it would be a bad thing if people who kept puppies for racing had to get shut because they didn't meet weight restrictions. It would be an even bigger disaster if the first brood of a whippet x greyhound was exempt from racing based on lineage.

I suppose the only justifiable reason in my eyes for splitting classes ( I think it would be wrong to stop dogs racing) would be if there was a marked difference in speed between 36/40lb versus No Limiters? To date I've only seen supreme scratch run on the straights and I've felt they've been good close races so I tend to think this isn't the case?

Don't shoot me down folks, I'm new to scratch racing and seek knowledge not criticism.

looks like i will have a scratch dog next year, sadie 9 month 36lb  out of atlanta 25/26 bitch/ hellbound32. make atlanta look like a yorkie so littuns can through scratch. as long as they can run 16or 56 . lets enjoy them  :luck: :huggles: :huggles: together

For those who believe it's acceptable to race dogs with more ghd than whippet in their breeding one question;

Why not allow full ghds to run in the No Limit?

to be honest it would not make that much differance because if its good enough

to beat some of the times put up by the scratch dogs then they would not be waisting there time running it three times in one day for a brown packet with a tenner in it.

just look at the times some of the scratch dogs go round in and compere them with the greyhound graders the night before (sprint only)

I know come on ernie has beatern enough of them :- " ;)

this is ment to be a fun sport lets keep it that way

this debate only ever comes up when there is a no limit dog that keeps winning

if it is a 36lb that keeps winning thats fine.NO COMPLAINTS :D :D

GARY
