Poor Murphy hope he feels better soon Grace sends :huggles: for him.

oh my god, poor murphy :(

some people just should not be allowed to have/walk dogs they cannot control, we have a little fluffy dog (not sure what breed) thats walks in the park, its never on the lead, and it is the most horrid vicious thing i have ever seen..............the woman thinks its ok for it to be off the lead as "he's only little" its bitten 2 dogs that i know of, and had a go at gypsy............which the woman thought was ok because "your dog can run faster than mine, so he wont catch her" oh well thats ok then  NOT!!!!!

Hope you manage to have a word with that bloke, he shouldnt be allowed to get away with it

:luck:

I've always been relatively lucky and not had any nasty encounters like this (touch wood) But I dread the day when it happens - That really is quite a nasty tear - but on the good side, it is only the skin ripped and it hasn't damaged the muscle so will heal quite quickly :luck: :huggles: Give him a hug from me

What is wrong with people - scares me to death, I was in the park yesterday with PS having a little game of frisbee, but as soon as I saw another dog come in off its lead I am afraid I leave as I just don't trust that people have got their dogs under control. The majority of dogs in the park seem to be english bulls, staffies and rotties and it is not the breed that worries me but more the type of idiots that often own them and don't teach the dogs any basic obedience. I'll just add that my neighbours staffie is lovely but they are sensible people

Youchy !!! :( that looks very sore

:huggles: murphy :huggles:

Oh Jess, you must've been horrified to see this happen to little Murphy..he's still so young and defeneless, what an awful thing to happen when out alone :( It was difficult to deal with the confrontation at that point I'm sure but I would definitely ask for some contribution towards the vets bill when you next see him. And at the very least he should from here on, have the dog muzzled !!! As you know I never take the risk and have Jaspa Muzzled at all times when in public places where other dogs are :( It's just being responsible and this dog should be muzzled !!!!!

This happened to my dog in Greece so I booted it to get it off........it then turned on me

Good luck at the vets Jess

 That's AWFUL!!!! Poor Murphy :( :huggles:

Ring your local dog warden and show them those pictures - they will sort out a lot of stuff for you, and probably help you get the vets fee paid, as well as monitor that dog and its owners and see that its kept under control. That's not just a nip - that's a serious wound for poor Murphy.

When a dog did that to Monty the dog wardens were absolutely brilliant - really took the situation in hand. I urge you to talk to them before that dog does this to Murphy again, or someone else's dog, or a child as you say. It's done it once (maybe more often?!) and it'll do it again.

:luck: Good luck. You should be able to find the numbers for contact on your local council website  :huggles:

:( That looks sooooo sore Hope he gets on alright at the vets :luck:

Oweeee...poor Murphy, that's going to take a bit of stitching, bad place too. What a shame. If both dogs were off lead with the altercation happened you will struggle to get the owner to pay..the Police wont want involved either..it then becomes a civil matter if you want to take it further. Our smallest JRT was bitten several times in the back/shoulder by a Collie x..the owner clipped the dog on a lead and literally ran off after her dog came off Milly..we called the Police etc, but due to the dogs both being off lead there wasnt much that could be done. I think i would approach the person walking the dog and appeal to their better nature, afterall the vets bill could be quite hefty. Hope Murphy is ok soon.

I hope poor little Murphy is ok. :( What did the vet say? :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: for both of you. :huggles:

Not necessarily true - there are laws and bye-laws governing aspects such as where the incident took place, if it's on a public path etc. This is why the dog wardens are so useful with their specific knowledge of the laws in respect of incidents like this

edited to add - I agree it would be probably a waste of time calling the police because it isnt a human that's been hurt

i didnt realise the dog wardens would be that helpful, i have a worry about a staffy x in our park that scares lots of people and has bitten a dog (i leave when they appear) i think i might phone them and voice my concerns and have a word with the lady who's dog got bitten!!

the bloke who owns this staaffyx thinks its great that he gets the park to himself as everyone leaves when he comes in

Def give it a try. I've heard of some not being that great, but our local ones are really on the ball. It's really good to have a barrier between you and the wrong-doer too, cos we all know what it's like saying anything to someone - you just a mouthful of abuse  but the wardens don't take that... they press on. It helps that ours are 6 foot tall and one's an ex-cop  no one messes with them

mmm, i def will give them a call :)

do the dog wardens where you are "patrol" (for want of a better word) your local parks????

i have never seen any round our way!

Not that I've seen, but then I don't use the parks that much because we have such lovely country walks. When I've had contact with them in the past, they seem really busy doing other stuff like rounding up strays and liaising with local pounds etc.

:huggles: For poor Murphy. Hope all goes well with the vet.

Interesting about the dog wardens, I've never seen any where I walk Rifle but I may get in touch and have a word. There is one dog I avoid like the plague but his owner insists on walking him, off lead and has very little control. The dog has already atacked several others and in one case bit a woman who tried to help her dog. I now carry a walking stick but as soon as I see this man's car I find somewhere else to walk.

Get well soon Murphy.

I didnt realise that Dog Wardens could help either..we were walking in an MOD range so it wouldnt have come under council bylaws anyway, but that's worth knowing..

poor murphy!!!! hope he is ok at the verts hun :huggles: see you again soon for extra cuddles :huggles:

Poor Murphy :( Hope he gets sorted at the vets, and I would definitely be presenting them with the bill

Have to agree here Helen, when my Chip was attacked by another dog, we rang the police and it was a waste of time. They actually said because no person had been injured there wasnt a lot they could do...

I hope Murphy is ok, that cerainly looks nasty to me -NO DEFINITELY NOT A NIP

:huggles: :huggles: Get Well Poor boy.
