:( Hi all

Just thought i'd update on my little beagle boy Parker.

We've had a rough week with him, he's started fitting again after a long time of stability.

he's had three fits in two days and keeps throwing his head back and smacking his lips in little mini seizures this evening.

I've spoken to the vet and we've upped his phenobarb but it takes a few weeks to maintain in the system at a higher level and we have a sinking feeling about why he's suddenly having fits again.

my fear is that he's going into liver failure. :( we've got to see what happens in the next 24hrs or so but he's booked in for blood tests for phenobarb and liver function on monday...however we both have a feeling that later tonight he's going to have another fit...you get to know the signs.

Please think of my little fat man because although he's a bit retarded i do love him very much.

Poor little chap, any idea why he is fitting? Any of his family got a history of fits?

I do hope he can be sorted out, he has such a sweet face.

So sorry about Parker having fits again.. :( lets hope he has a lot more years in him yet... :huggles:

poor parker, hes in my thoughts :huggles: sending positive vibes your way.

hes a gorgeous boy

he has a congenital liver disease and bile transport is poor and when bile builds in the system it affects the brain and can cause seizures.

the disease is progressive and he has so far lived a year longer than we thought he would and he has been maintained on hepatic food and his liver readings, whilst well outside the normal range, have been better than previously.

at some point Parkers liver will fail and this is not helped by the fact that phenobarb causes liver damage so we're in a catch 22 with him.

he's not had a major fit for over a year until two days ago. :(

 he is retarded tho (w00t) every fit he has damages his brain and he regresses , at the moment he is a giant fat annoying puppy who's constantly badgering me for food, he also sometimes turns one of his front feet onto its top and stands there for ages and doesn't correct it......he is a darling tho

:huggles: Poor Parker - hope things improve over the weekend :luck: :huggles:
