in the year youve had her Nicky it will feel like a lifetime of sheer happiness to Pops compared to what she had before, its hard to let go but don't wrap her too tightly in cotton wool let her enjoy scooting around while she can, my heart goes out to you and Poppy :huggles:

Sorry to read about Poppy, Nicky. Her Uncle Fred was diagnosed with a very irregular heart beat last year, and I know how shocked and tearful I felt at the time. He's more fortunate I think in that he's not coughing or showing signs of discomfort, so he seems to be OK in himself.

You are understandably really distressed at this outcome. I hope you are able to come to terms with it slowly. Perhaps allow Poppy some gentle running around freedom .....is it possible that you can console yourself a little with the fact she's had a happy life with you over the last years. :huggles:

well thought id keep you all posted on poppys vet visits, as you no she has heart murmer both sides they said ,she had all the tests and stuff and they said the right hand side of her heart is very enlarged ,but despite being on loads of tabs its not looking to good ,our check up today left me gutted i feel like thers a bomb ticking away and i cant do anything to stop it our vet basicaly has said she could go at any time just depends on her she could have a heart attack or just drop if she over exerts herself , so she now only on lead walks and im trying to keep her as quiet as i can and thats hard because shes a fiesty little madam :wub: so we dont no how much time she has left but were guna treat each day like its her last and she will be the most loved and spoilt whippet to ever have walked this earth ,im not shure how i will cope when the time come as she is my little angel and the thought of it sends me off crying i no weve only had her coming up a year but it seems like forever and never has anybody touched my heart has much as she has ,so over the next few weeks i hope you all dont mind me bombarding you all with pics and vids of her :wub: :wub: what makes it harder is she still seems her same old bubbly bossy self :wub:

but what i will say is POPPY is a fighter and fate found her way to you , so dont think for 1 min she will let you off lightly , we will be here for yonks yet hearing her antics!!! this is a huge upset to you and the family and extended k9 family but COME ON POPPY!!!!! play nicky up loads for us all keep your chin up and do as you said live each day as if its her last , she just may shock you into living a long and we all know a great life with you all xxxx

You must be pretty shocked by all this Nicky - like everyone else has said Poppy has had the best time of her life with you and I really hope that she surprises the vets and gives you many, many more happy moments. :huggles:

I DO KNOW HOW YOU ARE FEELING HOLLY POODLE HAD A GROWTH ON HER SPLEEN AND COLAPSED ON CRISTMAS EVE 3 YEARS AGO VETS OPERATED ON HER ONBOXING DAY AND SAID IF WE WERE LUCKY WE HAD 12 TO 18 MONTHS LEFT WITH HER WE HAD IN FACT 3 YEARS WITH HER RACING ROUND LIKE A NUTTER SO HANG IN THERE SWEETHEART SHE MAY SUPRISE YOU YET :huggles: :huggles:

thanks for all your kind words :huggles: well poppy is doing ok has the odd bad day but is still fiesty little madam and giving the boys grief on a daily basis ,i have decided that i will not be just lead walking her as i think im thinking of me and not her trying to wrap her in cotton wool and trying to prolong the inevitable ,which is not fair on poppy she loves to run and play and to denie her this would make whatever time she has left misserable so even thou i want her to go on forever ,she will run play and fight and if she goes in a field running her little heart out then so be it at least she will go happy :huggles: she being spoilt wrotten at the moe ,everybody is making every second count with heer il get some new pics of her up in a day or two for you all

i 100% agree with you Nicky, it must be quality of life for Poppy, she should do all the things she enjoys :thumbsup: and if free running is it she must do it

Here, here! Well said. It was such a touching story how you rescued her and showed her what the good life looks like. Enjoy every day and let her live it to the full.
