Ruby had an operation lst week to have her salivary gland removed. The vet referred her to Rutland House Referrals who explained that she needed to have the lump on the side of her neck removed, whereby saliva had leaked due to a puncture in the gland. She is really well now, but we werent insured and the bill was £1105.10 which we were told we would have to pay in full. I thought that this was a little extreme as I havent got a credit card and hadt got that sort of money just hanging around, luckily my mum and her partner leant it to me.

Ruby is now running around like an idiot and is very well, just waiting for her fur to grow back.

we pay £11 a month each on insurace and it covers up to £7000 per illness, definatly worth it :b

rather extreme. (w00t) I think I would get them to double check it if I was you. :unsure:

When Jesse had his leg amputated the bill was less than £500. Thankfully we have him

insured as further treatment has taken us over the £4000 limit. :sweating:

Hi, Thanks for everyone comments. She is fine now, but she has just got a very shaved neck and you no what whippets are like, they dont grow hair very quickly!!

The bill was so much as our vet would not do the operation as it was by her main veins and nerves, so she had to go to a specialist. The scar has healed beautifully and when the hair is grown you will not see it. We are just so glad that she has recovered so well as she and the others mean so much to us. They will all be insured at the end of this month.

Yes Mums are great, I dont know what we would have done without her. Get a massive overdraft I think!!!

I've never had any of my dogs in the past insured and I've never had any problems. But when we got Tina all I could see were those gorgeous long legs of hers and all manner of things going wrong :wacko: :blink: so I sorted out insurance for her straight away :sweating: Paid the full year's lot in one go *£95* as I just wanted to make sure she WAS covered in case of any emergencies - it would kill me if anything happened to her and we were too skint to pay for the vet

glad rubys recovered well :thumbsup: we was told the op for the salivary gland removal was a big job and one we thought we faced at the beginning of this year :sweating: luckily after they had a good look round under sedation her gland was fine :sweating: :thumbsup:

Well poor Ruby is all I can say - I've had the same operation myself, and it is quite a difficult one. I was told I could end up with one side of my face paralysed, but thankfully due to a skillful surgeon all is well. So although it did cost a lot for Ruby's operation, it was money well spent I'm sure. Glad she has recovered well - hope your bank balance has a good recovery too :thumbsup:
