 Kris

All 'dangerous dogs' should be kept on a lead in public places

and all dogs generally should be kept under control....

Of course not all owners are drug dealers/scum -she didn't say that...

Kim was on her lead when this happened to her and she was pregnant at the time.

ANY breed could kill or cause injury, and as for your comment about they are too dangerous to be let off the lead  IM GOBSMACKED!! Why should all breeds lso called 'dangerous breeds' not be allowed to have fun and freedom like others??Just because of some incidents by other dogs! you are tarring all with the same brush!

well i have to agree with kris staffies ,rotties, etc should be on a lead at all times or better still muzzled they can snap at any time the woman's staffie that attacked chloe was'nt on a lead i was 60/70 yds away but when it saw the dogs it made straight for them like john weir said i also had toe-caps on and i kicked it 2or3 times  once right under the jaw but it made no difference it was'nt interested in me just determined to get one of the dogs sadly it was poor chloe, the owner was shouting for it to come back but it took no notice, since that attack i have noticed there seems to be a lot more of the breed around here and on a few occasions i have seen 10/11 year old kids out with them

Im so glad someone on here agrees with me  I totally agree with you that all breeds should be kept under control. It drives me mad that all these people are segragating 'dangerous breeds' Apparently they are the only breeds of dogs that harm others :- "

I too would not have this kind of dog (EBT) in our house with my whips if i thought they were 'dangerous'. Mine too is asleep with the whippet sprawled all over him as i type  o:)

OMG!!! You are unreal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How on earth can you say rotties, staffs, etc should be on lead all time or MUZZLED !!!!!! I wish there were more owners of these breeds on here to back me up cause you are soooooooooo wrong!

I wish you could meet our dogs and my dads Rotties- they are even frit to death of the cat!

A refreshing change to see another member who understands these breeds. What happened to poor Cloe was wrong and no one was to blame but a very bad owner. Ive had staffs for over 50 years non have ever harmed a child or animal. I would not have a staff in the house with my 5 whippets if thay were dangous, He is fast asleep with my 15 year old whippet as I post. Just look at Jades post no breed is any different from the other, thay all need to be kept under control.

So you lot are all saying you dont let your dogs off the leaad unless you are in the middle of nowhere??

Sorry, but i dont believe that!

When i said i let my dogs off in public i didnt literally mean walking down the road, etc. But when i am walking down the canal towpath for instance why the hell should i keep my bull terrier off the lead when everyone else lets there dogs off!!

As i said before i ALWAYS put them on a lead when walking past people/dogs as i never said you can know your dog 100%, other peoples dogs come running up to US regulary when ours are On a lead....so how can it be ok for them just because they dont have whats classed as a 'dangerous' breed? but our dog should be kept on the lead at all times?,............... I DONT THINK SO !

My dad bred EBTs when i was a kid and they lived with the lurchers and my 4 brothers and sisters without problems yet they would fight like fiends with strange dogs, as kid's we were never allowed out with the EBT's and my dad always walked them on a lead with muzzles, it's horses for courses every owner believes they know their dogs and have to act accordinly and suffer the consequences if not

Yes bored too.

Im sorry for the dogs which have had injuries, whippets are my choice of breed ( the EBT is my OHs) and id be mortified if anything happened to mine.............

I just felt i had to stick up for him because, like you lot-everyone loves their dogs to bits and dont like them being called/discriminated against, etc and mine really is so kind and gentle.

Its terrible what has happened to the dogs mentioned but i just needed to point out that any dog could of easily of done the same.

i am a responsible owner and i dont let any of my dogs off the lead down the road or anything like that!

i think we just ought to agree to disagree and no hard feelings i hope.

I agree, they do have that 'instinct' and we always put ours on lead, whippet included, when see people. We took great care in raising our EBT and took him to socialistion classes, to friends houses to meet other dogs, etc, Hes been brought up CORRECTLY and i believe that is how everyone with most breeds should. i think thats why our boy is the dog he is today...non aggressive and well behaved

Ive got a whippet in the house that when out walking looks for other dogs that are not whippet/greyhound shape and when she see them she goes off it .

I wouldn't trust her off the leader around any dogs.

I think shes thinks shes 10 foot tall and built like arnold swarzenager

( i wud mine anyway) but guess wot? not a lot of other people do. very annoying when my dogs r on the lead one of these days a dog off the lead will come too near and it will end up getting bit whose fault wud that be?

Toatlly agree there... we always keep our on leads when meant to be and when approaching people/dogs too but often ours are on the lead and other dogs run up to us,

Thats what we say, whose fault would it be if the dog on the lead bit dog off the lead? Guarenteed it'd be dog on the leads fault.

SORRY to here about your terrible incident hope Chloe makes a speedy recovery as well as yourselves thinking of you all :huggles: :huggles: :huggles:

[ Im glad that Chloe is on the mend and that the trauma of the incident is lessoning for the family involved. That was a good heated debate, but the best part of it is that you have all had your say and now you are all friends again and no hard feelings remain.

There will always be people here who either love the breed or hate it, I never felt like that about the Staffy/ EBT/Pitbull etc breeds till my dog was savaged by one - now Im just plain frightened of them - simple as that. I wouldnt harm one - but think it all depends on the Owners as to how these dogs are brought up and trained.

A responsible owner is a good owner in my eyes - those dogs too then would have my respect.
