Hi all,

I have just had an email from my breeder confiming that out bitch puppy has been registered as a silver brindle. Is this a common colour? As I've never heard of it before, and also does anyone have any pictures of an adult "silver brindle" to give me an idea of what she might look like one day?

Thanks.

This is a very old silver brindle , unfortunatley Camilla is no longer with us . :(

She was a lovely old lady , but this gives you an idea of the colour ;)

This is my beloved late Silve. She was my first whippet. Her shade of Silver Brindle is very rare, I haven't seen similar since.

From those photos, it looks like your dog will be a stunner!! I really like the lighter shades

Thank you very much luvvlyjubbly, and she already is a stunner, bless her :D

Thank you Jax and Dusilla for the pics, I've been googling some images and silver brindle seems to be one of those colours that can vary a lot, so I guess i'll just have to wait and see :)

this is my kobi , he is a silver brindle parti

What is a silver brindle? I am picturing a (lightly marked?) blue brindle with a very cool (as opposed to red) background colour? Or can even black pigmented brindles be called silver brindles?

I just thought I'd add a pic of our puppy, seeing as I've been asking so many questions about her :)

Our Magic is a silver brindle but he`s almost [pink between the grey stripes!

ALL very confusung for a cat breeder where silver = white between the stripes [silver tabby] or white roots [smoke].

I understand silver brindle even lighter than blue brindle, it has a definite silvery shine, i.e "light blue" (silvery) stripes on a light grey/very light fawn background. I wouldn't call black pigmented brindle a silver brindle.

This photo pictures nicely the difference between silver, blue and black (Silve, her sister Sheila, and their dam Blacky):

Does this mean that I've got a silver brindle cat then? Squirrel is grey with very pale stripes & his tummy is a sort of apricot colour.

I think Squirrel is a blue tabby, and a lovely one at that. Great photo!

This is what a silver tabby looks like - notice the much greater contrast between th colours:
