i noticed the other day ruby had a sticky eye,

but now star has one??? what is it, what can i do to fix it?

do they need the vet?

any advice or help apreciated

My GSDs had this a year ago.

The vet was here taking Jinny's stitches out at the time and had a look at the germans.

She advised me to get Optrex Infected Eyes Eye Drops (they contain chloramphenicol which is the active ingredient in prescribed eye drops). They are available over the counter at the chemist.

Just administer as instructed for a child

It cleared my GSDs eyes up very quickly :D

Hi,

My whippet cross gets this from time to time,Golden Eye eye drops or lotion,it is a mild anti-biotic,and always does the trick.

Don,t say its for your dog,or they wont sell it to you, same with the other drops in the last post.About a fiver from all good chemists. We always keep it in.

Amandax

You cant beat cold tea it works a treat, and its very soothing and cost nowt.

the cold tea bags do soothe the eyes, ive also used golden eye on my lot when needed

well OH got the optrix stuff so using that, stars is actually quite bad, the inner lid is bright red, looks very sore :(

feeling rather guilty now that i didnt post about it yesterday and nip it in the bud :(

hopfully this stuff will work, OH said he told the pharmasist who agreed it should do the trick but then informed him she was selling it to him for him to use not the dog ;)

If its an eye infection or mild case of conjunctivitis the best thing is Brolene (drops not ointment) tea bags & the likes will have no affect.

You can buy Brolene drops from your local chemist BUT i would be 100% sure that it was not a scratched eyeball or eye injury first which needs to be treated by a vet.

thanks for all the replys yesterday, nina, yes its an eye infection, what i would consider the dog equivalent of conjunctivitis. both girls have it in both eyes :(

OH came home last night with Optrix eye bath  so had to send him back out for the drops, used them last night, and the difference is amazing even just in one night. so its says to do it 48hours so will see what they are like tomorrow.

thanks for all the help, if it works you have saved me a £30+ bill at the vet :sweating:

Hope the girls eyes soon get better Katie...Ive used Golden Eye Ointment in the past.

Good luck.. :luck:
