Just to let you know we've brought Peggy home but shes still very weak her left hind leg is a bit stronger than her right, she has be supported with a towel underneath her so still along way to go, shes just eaten as shes lost quite abit of weight

Shes still on painkillers. Got to take her back to my vet in few days and we're taking one day at a time

Bows really happy that shes back... we all are

[so pleased to hear that she is home...is there a dog therapy pool by you we took Rocket to one and it really improved him as it made the legs stronger they do put safety jackets on your dog and actually go in with him....the pool usually is exclusive to yourself and costs about £13 for 30 mins...by the way rocket hates water but suffered it and you loose wait running around the pool encouraging the dog to do a circuit.......Physio is good as they give you the exercises to improve the movement ....Hope all goes well .....]

SO SO glad that she's finally home. Give her and Bow a hug from me. :huggles:

I've just been to see jayne, peggy and bow, peggy is doing well and even stood up wagged her tail when i got there, which she hasnt done before :)

i must say jayne is doing a great job with her, taking her outside for the loo and doing the excersises she was told to do.

Its sad seeing her like that, but she seems ok in herself and quite happy as long as her mum is around

she even started to move her left leg whislt trying to walk while out in the garden for a pee, which she wasnt doing earlier and shes standing for longer without as much support from jayne

so fingers crossed she goes from strength to strength :luck:

well done peggy, keep going little girl :huggles:

and bow is ok too :huggles:

keep going jayne, im sure all your hard work will pay off in time

Jayne, I witnessed the incident and was very distressed by what I saw.

I took my dogs home and felt wobbly for a while afterwards.

I`m SO glad to hear your little girl is on the mend.It outlook looked TERRIBLE from my vantage point.

I was the bloke who told you to hurry up and get to her.

My dogs so love racing that it hasn`t put us off.The dogs WANT to race and last night, at the South Cots, they were DESPERATE to go.

How do you balance the guilt if your dog is injured with the pleasure

he/she gets out of it?

Hi Gavin ....... I am the one with Jeremy puppy, who was chatting to you about your cats at lure coursing!!

I know it is horrible when dogs have accidents but these things do happen to running dogs, it would not be kind to wrap them in cotton wool and not allow them to do what comes naturally to them. Also, as we have seen from two other topics recently, they can also injure themselves when apparently not doing much in the back garden (Jax and Aslan's bitches, both with spinal injuries) and one of my own bitches, Aimee, dislocated her shoulder badly when out on an ordinary walk in May, she is now fully recovered and back to normal exercise.

I am really pleased for Jayne that Peggy is making such good progress (keep up the good work girls  ) and that you, Gavin, have not let the incident put you off letting your dogs run.

Please, everybody, don't feel guilty if your dogs injure themselves, it does unfortunately happen but they are BORN TO RUN (well, most of them, my TJ doesn't think so, he thinks he was born to eat anything & everything).

What you should feel guilty about is if you didn't get them the best treatment possible and I am sure that this would not apply to any K9ers!!!

Update about Peggy

Shes very tried today and sleeping more , i was abit concerned so phoned the specialist just to make sure and reassure me that i was doing the right things with her

She booked to see my vet tomorrow morning for a check up (whippet greyhound vet)

And yes i do feel guity but the accident could've happened anywhere and at least she got treatment within half an hour and got to a speaialist within 28 hours

And ive lost alot of confidence to course/rase at the moment with im sure is understandable All i want is for Peggy to have a quality of life and to beable to walk unaided and these breed of dogs DO love to run and how can you stop them when they are born to run

Jayne
