Where to start!?!

Sidney has always loved the car and in fact he will try to get in even before you have unlocked it but poor Ben is having some hard job to even make it down the road without being sick.

We have nappy sacks, kitchen towel and wet wipes at the ready every trip!

The vet was not much help last week to be honest when I asked him about it and just said that he will grow out of it.

I just wondered if anyone else had the same problem and was/is there anything we could do or give him to help him....

The poor love was on his way for his first walk in our favourite wood when he threw up al over me :x and has had to come back home again.

I have tried not giving him anything to eat 2 hours before we are planning to go out but even though his tummy may be empty there is always something there to come out.

 :x

Awww, we have tried the window open, vents on but it seems to only make his drooling worse.. he gets very slobbery a few mins before it happens so we do get some warning... it made me laugh earlier when our son (Rob) shouted action stations just before Ben did his projectile vomit act

Sealegs worked for my dog after someone on here kindly suggested them. In fact they worked extremely quickly and she was really bad with car sickness as well. Good luck hope it settles quickly :luck: :luck:

Sea legs deffinately I only gave mine quarter 1 hour before traveling. Some give night before aswell, I never have.

If there are 2 of you we travel with one person in the back and the dogs settle quickly.

I have been very lucky my last 2 pups have not been sick even once from day 1, one of them travelled all the way from chester which was a 3 and a half hour journey. :luck:

Hmm going to look for some sealegs me thinks.

The thing that baffles us is that Ben travels 8.5 hours in the car from Norfolk to get home to Cornwall and was fine then all of a sudden going to the vets and even driving to go for a walk he is sick everywhere

Thanks

you will get them in your chemist

hi were going through the same prob's as you and are just trying sealegs for his next trip out, what amazes us is we dont give him his breakfast so his tummy is nice and empty, and it does not matter if we are going 5 mins or 5 hours he manages to throw up just as we arrive(like manchester champshow yesterday)

:x :x :x :x

he's 9 months old now,and shows no sign of stopping yet :sweating: :sweating:

Hi Rachel

I had exactly the same problem with Jinny, but I'm sorry to say she has become worse with age and not better :( (nearly 10 months now)

I have tried EVERYTHING but we are now even reduced to home visits by the vet (Jinny can't cope with the travelling and she stresses out so badly it's dangerous for her). She shakes like a leaf, drools pints of fluid and throws up. I also have to carry her to the car and put her into it :( She looks at me as though I am a mad axe murderer (w00t)

She can't even manage half a mile down the lane for a walk on the local farm. I tried to do this to get her used to travelling but she always threw up going and coming - and that is on an empty stomach (w00t)

She's so bad she has even made Ella sick too, and Ella was never a problem when I first had her.

When I first joined K9 I posted for help on travel sickness, here's the link

I'm sorry this is so negative but I wish you the best of luck :luck: :luck: with Ben and I do hope that he will grow out of it  I can't go anywhere because I can't bear to see Jinny in such a state so I stay home with her :(

Aw Jane, isn't that a shame :( poor love

It is terrible seeing the look of panic going over Ben's face just before it happens... :x

I am hoping it is just something time will cure as I said, Sidney loves the car.... I never thought I would have this problem

I hope everyone is well with you xx :huggles:

I have exactly the same problem with Kobi, not the others just him :( he will be 3 this year and he hasnt grown out of it.. (w00t)

I was recomended sealegs too, and have got some in the house...but havnt had him in the car to try them yet. I also bought some DAP spray to try and calm him.

My vet also recomended Serene-Um and I think you can also buy these in pets at home.

The trouble is with mine, I dont really take them in the car enough....I havnt any need to really, but others recommended short journeys or putting them in the car wih the engine running too.

Poor boy I know exactly what its like, its a nightmare too with Kobi...even a trip to the vets and the back of the vehicle needs a thorough cleaning.. :x

i really feel for you rachel our phoebe was just the same as your ben and lucky for us she grew out of it ,i feel sorry for you jane and jinny :huggles:

i know youve had lots of advice already so my little bit is make very short journeys to start with like your street and back then build the distance up slowly, its a pain but it will hopefully be worth it if it helps ben

This topic has come up several times before and I have always recommended the same thing - Sealegs.

I am so so grateful that I tried these with Logan, absolutley nothing else worked and I really did try everything.

With any luck Ben will only need to take a tablet for the next couple of car journeys and then he will be cured! :luck:

I know people who have used sealegs and done very well with them

When I got callie and sienna 4 years ago they were quite travel sick for around the first 6 months especially callie she used to drool and shake :( but they grew out of it, I didnt know about sealegs at the time

Hope you find a solution :luck: :luck:

Been of the forum for awhile and OHMIGOD - !!! MUST RUN IN THE FAMILY.

Stan is just SOOOOOOOO sick in the car. Frinstance, today two trips, one for a walk and one to puppy socialisation and both times drooling drooling like you wouldn't believe and sick sick sick even if he has not been fed for at least 4 hours... poor love.

Bluebell is better but not by much... Pick them up the wrong way as you take them out of the car and projectile vomit time.

Still... at least Stan has stopped sh*tting himself at the same time... phew!

The good news is that they perk up pretty quickly, can't say the same for the smell in the car!

I shall post a recent pic in a separate post.
