i am so, so sorry to hear about Tia :(

sending you both so many healing thoughts - keep on pushing your vet - ask for any tests that have been mentioned on here.

you cannot have better advice than from folk that have owned whippets for years and years x

good luck to you lovely lady

thinking of you both so much

My Colt woke up a few months back and he was in pain. The vet said it was his back and I thought it was his tummy. He would not eat (not like him),,he was given diazipam and metacam. I was scared to give him the metacam as if it was his tummy it could have been worse for him, I took him back the next day,,,he says it's his back another injection and keep to the other pain relief. I massaged his back with Trainer's Choice 3 times a day.

In a few days time he was loads better. I think he hurt it doing the wall of death on the sofa :- "

Ive seen all my boys act like Tia,just after boosters,,,they just dont want to be touched and every time they move they screamed or whined,,I know is not because of a booster jab :(

I hope Tia is feeling a lot better in the morning,,just wish I knew why she was in so much pain,,,bloody heart breaking, just watching from the side and not knowing how to make them better

so hope it isnt something serious - poor Tia -
A friend of mine's bitch was poorly, off her food and had a lot of pain in her neck, she yelp when she moved it - it was meningitis - I would get her back down the vets tonight because once this bitch was put on steroids within a very short time she was improving.

She is now fully recovered and full of energy

Spot on  Most vets are quick to rule out meningitis as they seem to think it rarely affects dogs.

Not so.

There are several different forms of meningitis including viral forms. Meningitis can NOT be ruled out unless the correct tests have been done.

If this continues & each time the muscle relaxants wear off the pain comes back ask your vet to try her on Predneslione (sp) steroid & low dose Phenobarbitone

Good luck :luck:

I agree i lost a dog last year that had meningitis and the symtoms are very similar to your dog she needs a spinal tap before meningitis can be ruled out insist on one, vets tend to rule it out because not all can do the procedure a classic sign of Meng is a stiff neck, reluctance to eat unless the bowl is lifted, and a "doefull" look this is caused by the dog not wanting to move its head so tends to roll their eyes upwards

My thoughts too Patrick

Nicky, its better to be safe than sorry, i hope to god its not meningitis & hopefully its NOT, but if it symptons persist get a vet to carry out the relevent tests as there is no point in them just ruling it out without actually knowing.

Most vets will argue till the cows come home, but if the dog is tested correctly there are no shades of grey.

Thinking of you & good luck :luck:

loads of positive thoughts and prayers for you today Tia and Nicky :huggles: :huggles: :huggles:

I hope this is a muscular-skeletal problem, Nicky. Tia is acting in a very similar way to Irie when he ran into a trailer chassis. It took weeks before he was better and he anticipated the pain so much at first that he did exactly what Tia did in that video.

I do agree that it would be sensible to go down the testing for meningitis route to put your mind at rest.

Remember, time is the healer and in Tia's case this may be all it needs, hun

Good luck with the xrays. Remember they will only show up problems with bone so if the condition is muscular there will be no outcome from these :)

Thinking of you both :huggles: :huggles:
