well its staring to get dark out and the other night i went walking with the lady down the road, her dog had this amazing led collar it was fab, her dog is a dark colour so all you could see were these red flashing lights lol.

i want to get somthing similar for ruby and star but im not so keen on the collar idea, so i was looking at tags,

does anyone use these? can you recomened any good ones?

also its getting alot colder and ruby and star only have summer rain coats, so what do i buy?

do i get a fleece?

water proof fleece?

thick warm cosy coat?

quilter coat?

snood?

i feel its not quite cold enough yet for full winter wear then thats me having to buy 2 coats and OH woulnt be to impressed :sweating:

is it possible to get a warm fleece with detachable waterproof to do the dry chilly days and awful wet days??

any ideas on whats best for this time of year?

I've got some of those flashing led light collars, Katie but they didn't last long :(

The lights soon stopped flashing and it wasn't the batteries but the connection which won't work properly.

I find the reflective strip collars very good - they really show up if lights shine on them. Juley was selling some on her thread the other day.

What about a whippet jumper with a waterproof wax to put over it for rainy days?

You can get really nice whippet coats from this ebay shop

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Hound-Smart_Whipp...5QQftidZ2QQtZkm

They really do fit extremely well. Unless your girls are bigger than average, the 21" will give good backend coverage and still fit snugly round the chest

Good luck choosing :luck: :luck: ........ have fun :D

just get nice fleece ones to go under ther summer waterproof ones hun = thicker and warmer for winter or can be worn just fleece or if really cold and wet stick waterproof one on top ,sorted  :D

Gypsy a coat for all weathers......

a fleece

a wax coat with fur lining with is brilliant if its really cold

a raincoat (thin)

a quilted coat

HELY! you pinched my idea, braided xmas lights collar was my xmas project :p

nicky, their summer rain coats i got from jo k and they are intermediate size, so there is no way ill fit a fleece under their otherwise i wouldnt need to be asking lol

im not so keen on more collars at the min as im poor at this time of year and the thought of 2 coats each and a new colar each well i can hear my bank account crying already, thats why i thought the led dog tags things would be a cheep alternative and thats more pennies towards keeping them warm :sweating: :huggles:

katie let me see if i can pick up some reflective trim and il knock you two up hun as i have couple 1inch hardwere set for collars here :huggles:

Have a little look here: Blinkers

Django has a twist on and off blinking light on his collar. It takes tiny little round batteries. He's had his for about a year and a half with no problems. Had to replace the batteries once, but that was only because I un-twisted the light too far in the dark when walking in a field and the batteries fell out... never to be seen again! Because he's a black brindle you just can't see him off the lead in the dark, but a blinking light makes it really easy to keep track of where he is. His one flashes blue and red. We're getting another whippet soon and we'll definately get another blinker, but a different colour so we can tell who's who! Hope the link above is what you're looking for

bright light not to big but with a bit of weight behind it so you and whack anyone who may be out to scare you in the dark  (w00t) :- "

nicky thats really nice of you but you dont have to do that thank you for the offer :huggles:

django'speeps that look like the sort of thing, thank you

katie, get yourself one of those wind up torches............they are quite small and will fit into your pocket, i have one that i use on my ghost hunts :b

and, you will never run out of batteries cos they dont use them

supa dupa :)

we have raincoats with fleece lining, double fleece coats, quilted coats which they wear the most.

we also have the halo flashing collars which i better check that there still working

I like the 'Blizzard' coats because they dry quickly but I also use wax outer (fleecy inner) coats as they're a bit tougher when it comes to the old 'rip the coat' game.

Togs for Dogs do great waterproof coats and whilst a tag expensive the coats I have had from there have lasted longer than from anywhere else. They also wash very well and can be purchased with reflective strips on them. The one I got for Albus is now three years old and looks like new.

Bluebell has a fleece (from Jok :D ) for when its chilly

a Raincoat (from Jok :- " ) for when its raining but not too cold

a Quilted coat (from Jok (w00t) ) for when its both of the above

she also has a glow collar and Alfie has a flashing led collar.

I use Canac flashing collars and blinkers for my lot because we walk in the dark through a lot of trees. Both are very good and you can see them for quite a distance.

I need to update Skye's wardrobe too as she is currently wearing one of Phoebe's coats with her bum sticking out the end  :- " .

Phoebs has too many coats :b but the only ones she really wears are a cotton lined waterproof for summer, a double fleece for when it's really cold and a dog fleece jumper from Equafleece for everyday wintry which I find great as it keeps their chests warm and dry but doesn't move or rub when they run :D . The fleece is good quality and repels water so I don't need a waterproof on top unless its pouring and then we don't go out :) . Reasonably pricey though and Phoebs grew out of her first one so I'm holding back on buying Skye one until next winter :)

they look really nice and warm those Equafleece ones i think they will be in the xmas list.

iv bought flashing collars of the site janics put up as they were half the price of the pets at home ones so i can afford that lol

and im thinking fleece linned water proof as it doesnt start to get really cold till about january so they will be getting about 4 different coats jumpers and jackets for xmas lol

thanks for all the help :huggles:
