Adult dogs/wolves only ever pin another dog/wolf when they are going to kill it.
A wolf will roll on its back volutarily in front of another wolf to show submission...

They specialise in GSD's and I am sure you would be able to find either a home or a foster/rescue place very quickly on there.
If she is entire then she really needs getting out of there...
Found this video on youtube of a 10 year old three legged staffie, thought you might find it helpful to see how well they cope:
They are not the best quality video's but the dogs do seem to be enjoying themselves!

This has been talked about previously here:

I give a list of natural treatments in my reply to that question.
Hope you find some success with Dillon.

I would also demand to know if the dog was vaccinated/microchipped/flea treated/wormed whilst in their care. Also was it given any other medical treatment.
I know they often immediately vaccinate dogs that arrive in their care.

Green Lipped Mussel tablets have worked for my dog, he has been on them a few years now and if I miss a day he really does not want to walk.

So sorry to hear about your experiences. I am sure you made the right decision. Kidney failure can be difficult to manage, as you found out the toxins build up in the body and slowly poison everything. In the book I have on natural health care it is the one condition where they advise having...
In a book I have on natural healthcare for dogs they suggest the following for Kidney failure:
Supplements: Vitamin A, B and C are particularly needed.
Certain foods are considered especially good for kidney problems: parsnips, parsley, cabbage, kidney beans (cooked), barley, carrots, leafy...
My dog (a giant breed) used to do this with me when he was young. It is difficult to ignore a big dog when they are jumping up and grabbing your arm or sleeve - it also gets very painful when they grab your arm constantly. My arm was constantly covered in bruises and scratches.
The best way...
I use Green Lipped Mussel tablets for my dog and they have kept him mobile for a number of years now.
I get them from Holland & Barrett (usually when they have a half price offer). They are about 11.00 for 100 tablets.

I would be asking more searching questions of the vet, or even get a second opinion. You may not want to hear the answers, but I think you need to find out exactly what is causing the pain - it may be that the lumps could be removed? If you can find out the cause then you may find a treatment...
Two of the top people in this field are Dr. Malcolm Willis and Dr. G. Clayton Jones. They both specialise in GSD's. Dr. Willis breeds GSD's. Not sure about contact details for them, but I think your vet may refer you to them.
You might find this link interesting, these people have a GSD and...

I would check out local rescues.
Most good rescues will give you a complete rundown on the dog and you know what you are getting.
Try reading through:
http://www.freewebs.com/manytearsrescue/do...ingforhomes.htm
It will give you a good idea on what to expect.
Good luck!
Forget local papers I'd go straight to the national papers with this!
The Daily Mail often prints stories about dogs, I would definately get in touch with them.
Also your local TV station might be worth a try.
I would also be telling every dog walker/pet owner I came across!!
These stories...
