We've heard a few funny comments from children but the best was from a small child to his dad ''look dad there's a kangaroo'' - another child asked us if Merlin was a werewolf and another one once asked if he was pregnant (whilst pointing at his deep chest)!
Depending on how big the ridge is, some vets can sew the tear but that means going under an anesethic, me personally i would continue resting and arnica, do this for several weeks giving it time to heal properly as muscle tears take time to heal, have you got a greyhound muscleman near you, most...
Hi Debbie, I think you may well be right, i've googled this injury and seen some pic's & this could well be what Merlin has. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get on the internet since I first posted this message so i've been carrying on his normal walks as he hasn't been limping or...
Hi all, I noticed Merlins leg (inner hind leg) was a bit red yesterday but today it is really bad. It is deep red, bruised looking, and, looks and feels hard and swollen - the 'bruise' is spreading and the whole area feels hot to the touch but especially around the swollen part. I thought he...
Well there are a few things I could mention............but the main embarrassing moment for each of mine both involve my in-laws.
My in-laws had the family over for Sunday lunch, we were having a chat at the dining room table whilst my mum-in-law waited for the potato's to finish when Merlin...
Hi, I had an awful experience too when my oldest whippet was about 1 - he slipped under a fence when we were out walking and into the next field which had horses in - despite our desperate attempts to call him back he ran around the horses one of which kicked him - our view was partially blocked...
Thanks for your reply Jan. I just called the night vets as i'm worried because his nose is still bleeding (not constantly but on and off), the vet said although she doesn't think I need to bring him in as an emergency, as he isn't losing loads of blood, I should definately get it checked out...
Hi, has anyone else come across their whippet suffering with a nosebleed. I noticed Willow had one earlier and it's just started bleeding again. It's not pouring but the blood is signifiant, it's not a cut and is definately coming from inside his nose. I've never come across this with either...
Funny you should say that Nicky........I wonder if you'd be interested in checking out a website about the canine bowen technique - on their website they mention about how one part of the body hurting can affect another area, infact they use the example that a painful leg could shift the body...
Actually my two have got quite bad lately about running off and turning completely deaf when I call them - I put it down to the fact that they are having a field day chasing/catching rabbits at the moment due to the mixamatosis - they had 6 between then in one day the other week and they have...
Hi Nicky, i'm so happy to hear that Tia is OK, judging by her contorted sleep position it seems whatever was wrong has definately righted itself.
Perhaps she had the canine version of fibrositis or something similar - i've had that several times (you can do it turning in your...
Some policies are very cheap but don't offer great cover and have certain conditions i.e. will only pay out x amount on the same illness - it's important to read the small print really carefully.
I was with Pet Plan, it was a good policy but expensive and the excess was £90 - I changed to the...
And not forgetting the other member of the litter who's name I don't know.
How time flies, I can't believe they are one year's old already. Willow will celebrate his birthday later with a cooked chicken and a pigs ear! Here's my gorgeous boy at the weekend.
Sorry to hear of poor little Star being attacked, also what a fright you must of had when your other whippet ran off - what a nightmare but very lucky she managed to dodge the cars - it could of been a real tragedy.
Janimal what an terrible picture/horrific injuries to your poor Chip, I can...
That sounds yummy Nicky, I could eat that now. Mine do love a roast but I hardly ever cook a roast in the summer - however although mine are on a raw diet I do cook them one meal a week and that is fish with peas and potato's roasted in a little rapeseed oil - they love it.
Merlin our first whippet done this too, we wondered what on earth was happening when at the same time every night he tore around the house like a demented, out of control lunatic - we used to call it his 'exorcist' time - he did grow out of it. Good luck.
