i had the girls out this morning and they were off the lead, when we met up with a guy with a westie all was fine but a little terrier and a bull x came round the corner with a lady and i assume teenage daughter.

star did her to it, it attacked her! usual flip on to the side, but the bull one stood right on top of her,

the lady went over to get the dog of star saying "thats a bit dominant ----" (cant remember the dogs name.)

just before she got to them the dog attcked star.

star was squealing and the lady got the dog off, and star ran about screaming finally i got her. i was so worried for star i didn't notice ruby had ran the other way and the young girl had ran to get her followed by the terrier.

ruby just kept running (i guess she was scared of the dog) so i couldn't say anything to the lady i had to go get ruby. i picked up star and ran to get her.

2 different sets of people said they had seen her but never thought to stop her they both said she was heading back the way we came to the car.

i was in a right state. eventually i got back to the car and she was there with a man holding her. who was on the phone to OH (had the sense to check her tag)

it took me a good 10mins to get back to the car running, and there were 2 small roads and a car park!!!

on getting star home she has 2 quite big puncture holes in her head just above her eye she seems quite shaken and so am i for that matter. OH has just taken her to the vet so hopfully she will be fine.

ruby is fine lying in my bed as if nothing happened. cant believe, she came went back so far all by herself, with out being hit by a car or taken by someone.

on coming back we past 2 more dogs and star was shaking, and in the house she has growelled at ruby twice. is this just the shock of whats happened?

i hope she doesnt now have a fear of other dogs :(

the lady looked as shocked as i was, so i dont think her dog has done anything like that before but i didnt stay around long enough to find out. and i deffinatly did not see any of the dogs there do anything that would have sparked the bull x to attack.

im still shaking, and i need to go for a shower as i was ringing with sweat and covered in dirt from running over the wet grass.

ill let you all know what the vet says :huggles:

 how terrible...makes me think how lucky i am having a 5acre field where the horses are to run mine, all enclosed, ive walked mine out a few times..(to the school to pick elisha up) and my heart is in my mouth when i see another dog

fingers crossed all goes well at the vet and shes not to shaken by it :huggles:

pauls just came back from the vet, shes in shock, and been given antibiotics to take, i guess incase of an infection.

no stitches or anythingjust to keep it really clean with salt water. and to let her sleep which is what she is doing now. i feel so rotten for her cause shes the nicest dog she wouldnt hurt a fly. when ever she meets a new dog she is the first to roll over and let them have a sniff.

OH says hes glad he wasnt there as he would have went mental and the lady and the dog, but there just wasnt time to think about it. trying to work out who was in damger and how to get them. the scariest time of my life i think. :(

here she is, poor baby, wrapped in mummy gems blanket

Poor Star hope she feels better soon :huggles:

Daisy was attacked a few weeks ago luckily she seems fine with most dogs but doesn't like spotty ones anymore :( but she is alot older than Star. Daisy hates the place it happened now so we had to give up flyball :(

It shakes your own confidence too Katie when something happens like this.

Im sorry to put this on your thread....

but this was my little Chip in 2000 after he was attacked by a staffy cross...I have had this on a thread before you joined...

this took me a long time to overcome...to the point where I didnt want another dog after Chip went... :( I even had councelling..

ChipforKitty.jpg

he lived another 4 years after this attack I might add, but had medication for the rest of his life due to a punctured lung, and 4 broken ribs... :( which were pinned/wired....and yes that is bruising on his ribcage 1 day later...

Anyway 8 months after he left for the Bridge I decided to have another go, and got Oscar and the rest is history, but it still puts the fear of god in me if I see any of these staffy type dogs approaching off the leader...I know what they are capable of.

poor star i hope she will be ok katie we send you ots of get well wishes :luck: :huggles:

:( Poor Star :huggles: hope she feels better soon. Well done you for keeping it together - you are allowed to fall to bits after :huggles: but this sort of thing really shakes you up :luck: :luck:

OMG Katie, that is horrific. Poor little Star, she must have had such a shock, you too!!

Glad to see she is home and warm and comfy. It is so horrible when those kind of things happen. I have had a couple of dogs attacked and for ages afterwards it shakes your confidence when meeting other dogs but try not to be too nervous for Star's sake as she will sense it and be worried herself.

I hope that woman keeps a better eye on her dog now she knows what it is capable of.

Zulu sends gentle hugs to his little sister and hopes she is feeling lots better very soon. :huggles:  :huggles:

Sorry to hear of poor little Star being attacked, also what a fright you must of had when your other whippet ran off - what a nightmare but very lucky she managed to dodge the cars - it could of been a real tragedy.

Janimal what an terrible picture/horrific injuries to your poor Chip, I can imagine how traumatised you must of felt. My Merlin was attacked by a staffie a few week ago (a neighbours dog, they said he was friendly)! Fortunately it wasn't anything like what Chip suffered but the vet said the bite was in a very painful area so he had to have pain killers as well as anti-biotics.

I must say that up until that point i'd been considering starting to do dog walking but it reminded me what a big responsibility it is to look after someone else's dogs and how unpredictable they can be and it's totally put me off.

Wishing Star better - I always give mine Bach flower remedies in their water/goats milk if they've had a shock (also might be good for you).
