good on you Louise! That would be a great boost for your first time out with Halle.

No group placements for us on the weekend. Dino has torn a shoulder muscle and didn't get shown on Sunday. I have no idea how he did it as we were at shows for the weekend - and he was on a lead or in the trailer the whole time.

He was beaten on Saturday by "Uncle Rupert" (Ch Kassdalee Major Scoop). Layla picked up the challenge bitch and then beat Rupert for BOB but she couldn't pick off the Best or Reserve in Group award. Aime was challenge bitch on Sunday.

The results from days show at the Park where as follows:

BOB & BCC: Ch Daneson Storm Cloud

RUBB $ DCC: Gr Ch Taejaan Moulin Rouge

I would like to congratulate Julie and Tony on their wins. I would also like to mention something that happened today which was just disgusting! As soon as Julie came out of the ring still reeling from her great win, a certain fellow whippeteer that shall remain nameless, came up to her and in the same breath as congratulating her told her that her bitch’s front was atrocious and she should be shot for breeding such an awful moving dog – can you believe it!! What I am ashamed of is having this person as a fellow whippet lover and breeder!! This was a case of bad sportsmanship and especially to say this to Julie who is the first one to congratulate the winners – no matter who they are or what she may think of their dogs!

Way to go Angus. Tell us more. Who was this wanker?? Or had you already mentioned his or his partners name already? :x

No they congratuated julie on her win and were very good sports.

I too was at the show as I had arranged to meet Angus to start socialising my latest litter of whippet pups. I was not present when this discussion took place, but it was immediately the talk around the ring at the end of whippet judging. I now know why I decided to show less than I have previously. The atmosphere of good sportsmanship and friendship based on a common love of the breed has previously been the aim of the hobby. I am glad to say that this behaviour is not supported by the majority, but rather the minority.

Rag Dog

Yes it's a shame that some people just don't take others feelings into consideration - isn't it?

He/she should have just stopped at "congratulations".

And sometimes that's where others should start. Julie obviously does the right thing. :)

I hope it wasnt a fellow K9er

Why cant people be happy for other people winning , esp , if its someone who dosnt / hasnt won a major award before .

NOBODY has a god given right to win all the time , even if some think they have

`

after all , at the end of the day , its only a` dog show` not life or death (w00t) ;)

No names,he knows who he is

This is not the first time at one show he had the daughter of a whippet exhibitor in tears when she came out the ring with bob,he told her she should not have won and her whippet was the worst one he had ever seen, just shows what he knows her whippet went on to win at least 3 all breeds best in shows and a specialty best in show. I wonder who had the last laugh there.

Hope he thinks before he puts his mouth in to gear next time.

Aah so it's a HE. If he's done it before I dont see why he'll think before talking next time. He'll just go on his merry way & continue to offend and embarrass.

Some of the people there are the reason I have hardly ever shown. If they hadn't been so damn rude I would have gotten into it. Instead I race my ped whippets. It's so much friendlier. I hope the showies dont catch on & start to come cause it'd probably get nasty then.

Linda

Just better clarify there are some very nice genuine showies too. Not all are creeps

He has done it. Barney is now an AUSTRALIAN CHAMPION. (Subject to the paper work).

Well done, to all involved

My congrats are on the other thread.

Nothing great for us today at our local except that a little bitch I bred broke her long challenge dry spell and took the challenge today. There were only three bitches there but it was a relief for me and her young owner/handler to see her take it and then she beat Dino for RUBOB which was also great. The dog who won BOB is her daddy and they are very typey so even though I didn't win anything major myself I was well pleased with the judging.

Katrina - any results from that NZ competition yet?

No Whippets won any major awards - Maybe next year as already a whippet has qualified for 2006 'Lucy' Ch Kana-ka Katwalk Kween (Barr)

After a drought filled with plenty of Reserve Challenges, CHARM - Ridgesetter Celtic Charm - aka 'The Evil One', cracked Best Of Breed, Runner-Up Best In Group and Intermediate In Show both days at Lake Boga KC in Victoria. :D Cc's were 15 points Saturday and 11 points Sunday. Absentees on Sunday due to cold and rain and I don't blame them. Sue did say Charm looked like the Harbour Bridge in the cold afternoon in General Specials but gaited well.

I was so excited when Steve and Sue rang, I forgot to ask about who was Dog CC and other details. Maybe she can fill in details.

6 points to go but I think Charm's only entered in one show before Steve and Sue join us as we head off to Tammsvik.

I did hear that Barney got Dog CC and the Dryburgh's girl got BOB at Parramatta yesterday. Having found life outside of dog shows  and getting a bit of work done around home before we leave, we've been having a break from shows but it appears that numbers are still well down. Not sure where everyone is.

Hi everyone, thanks Wayward Angel for including the Dog of the year evening in here, we had a fabulous time partying with the Big Guns. Sassy showed like a dream, inside on carpet with dinner tables all around her, the only thing that got her a bit confused was being examined on the table by THREE judges, she kept wanting to jump down after each one had done their thing.

I havent been online much, baby puppy SKYEWAY THE BLOODY ACTIVE AND INQUISITIVE has been keeping me busy after work. I did take him to the indoor dog showing venue here a couple of weekends ago when they had an obedience show on, just to get him used to the noise etc - there is no show training before his first (open) show weekend after next. Well.

He arrived and sat looking for about 20 seconds, then decided "ITS ALL ABOUT MEEEE" and tried to make friends. His specialty is the bullet kiss with front feet in ovaries (or counterpart). He especially likes men. (He was on his back squirming with joy for my vet at his last innoculation.) Obedience people not much amused. Exit before chucked out.

Cheers everyone

Jackie
