We were well knon for putting good shows & racing on, like I said in a previous posts. Its hard work putting these events on as some of you may know, but when a thank you card comes through the post like this did it makes it all worth while

Paul & Mary Thompson went on to be on the committee of the NLRC
Well Geoff this is going back a bit great times were the pictures of Bow?My mate Terry had just got that black and white bitch Sly going. Not a bad bitch bred off two good lamping dogs but could run a bit.My bitch Sadie was a litter sister to Sly who went on to win the long jump Both days three years on the trot at Chatsworth.I can see her flying through the air now (must be getting a bit soft in me owd age mate)We took her down to Blake Hall staying with Tony Rossa and Wendy and she wiped the floor with em.What some of them lads down there were going to do against us but they could only manage about 12 feet. She done 23 feet on the sunday Richard Vaughan had tears running down his face Rossa was jumping up and down punching the air and telling them braggers what he thought about them.Mary bless her she dared not look i was so proud thank you so much Geoff for giving me the chance to walk down memory lane. The Owd Goldie Mule (The guy that used to run the Hurdle Racing at Chatsworth for many years)

This was an advert placed in the 'Shooting News',on June the 25th/1st July1993.I was unaware that I'd been invited to attend this forum until I read this issue, which I wasn't pleased about.I phoned Brian Plummer and asked for an explanation! His reply was 'I thought you would think it would be a privilage to stand with me on a forum.'I won't tell you what I replied but the first word started with F and the second word started with O  Needless to say,I didn't attend.

By the way ,for those of you too young to remember(Jac) the Shooting News became The Countrymans Weekly.

Several weeks later Mr Plummer sent me a letter of apology.I've been looking for it,but Hazel says she vividly remembers me wiping my arse on it :D In fact on a clear day,you can still see the print on my buttocks :D

Brill reading geoff and hazel, bringing a lot of memories back for me esspecially this picture of statts i have seen him since the coursing ban i coursed with him and his club, and i remember vicki winning with magic, and gemini, thanks for putting this on there will be few that will remember these days oh and i forgot micheal treggett doesn't look that young now he was child handler winner at chatsworth in the previous pictures, i remember his dog libby as if it was like yesterday

I also forgot had the pleasure of racing against you on several occassions and i have beat you once with a pup and a hairy dog, now that was some feat to do that as your dogs were machines, plus remember mikes blue dog,

Just thought i would put my wee thingy in about Mr Plumber Geoff.Way back in the late 80s,i think it was.Mr Plumber,at that time, was wrighting pretty regularly,in Countrymans weekly. He made a statement in there, that realy got up our noses, over here,in that he stated that an irish man wouldn;t know the 1st thing about obedience training a lurcher. At that same point in time.I had a 5/8 collie/greyhound,who was the smartest thing id ever known, never mind own.She was trained in all aspects of lurcher work;including long net work, where she would quarter a field, just like a good sheepdog, and drive whatever was in that field, into the neys.Lamping, she was unbeatable,to make a big statement. With bagsof 50 ,being normal to her.Ferreting was the same.Brilliant marker, who seldom,if ever,as i can only remember once, made a false mark. Both on rabbit,or fox.I was approached by Billy Copeland, who had one of the 1st Hancock bitches to ever come across here,if i would represent the North Down Lurcher Club, who were then the biggest thing over here,as regards lurcher clubs. If i would be wuilling to take Plumber on,in a one to one obedience trial.I was also at that time, spending a considerable bit of most days, with a mate, who was a gamekeeper, and an Irish, and English Field trial Champion.(Springer Spanials). So after 2 months of fine tuning. We offered the challenge up tp Mr Plumber,in that the loser would go out of lurchers, for good, and that if he lost,he would publicaly appologise to all Irish lurcher ownwers. To cut this short. He declined the offer, with an appology.Sorry for hijacking youre thread mate. But i didn't always spend my time racing.Lurcher work, was my life, for 20 years.Hopefully,i will be back at it,if and when,i get a couple of opperations sorted.Plans are now affoot, for a litter of 1stx Collie/Greyhounds,from a well known working Collie,to my own Greyhound bitch,as my plans of putting Dannyboy over her, have been quashed, with these new rules.Just showing here, that i agree with you about what Plumber was. ...Billy...
