We'll be the people in the ancient blue falling apart volvo covered in straw, with a whippet howling like a wolf every time he spots a deerhound  You won't want to be associated with us

Well Digger makes so much noise (and I mean a noise that has got to be heard to be believed!! (w00t) (w00t) ) that between us, we will have everyones attention :- " :- " :b

LOL

You are not being blonde at all cos how would you know if you have not been before .............. unless you have a crystal ball of course!! LOL!

Unfortunately, you are going to have to become domesticated and take your own food and drink cos we haven't yet persuaded Gary to open up a burger/tea van!!

Hope to see you there Tracy!

I think those K9ers who have badges ought to be wearing them!!!

Bad news about the flasks then we'll be the two dehydrated ones  Mind you, this might be a good idea as I have now read about the "toilet". Should I be scared :x

Definitely a good idea about the badges, it will be lovely to see all of you. I really hope that I can make it, Ollie is so excited that he might get to meet all of these wonderful dogs :D

Have you told them about the toilet tent Dessie?
What you mean you have a tent? What luxury!

We'd normally make lots of cakes for a picnic, but all my eggs are in the incubator or on eBay, so no home baking this week :(

LOL! Well if you are very lucky and bring your own tea bags, coffee or whatever (and cups) I might be able to spare some hot water cos I usually take two flasks!!!

Well, we had a really nice few hours watching the lure coursing   really nice to see so many breeds thoroughly enjoying themselves

Really nice to meet Deb and Moriarte (Elizabeth), and when I left their two dogs had done EXTREMELY well in their first run   Also saw Alfie, Beejay, Dessie and Millie and all their dogs having a great time.

Anyone got any more results?

Thanks to all the organising team for a very entertaining day. Even the children thought it was great - especially the two deerhounds who didn't chase the lure but had a fantastic game out there - lovely to watch.

Reminder to self - deerhound - one day..................

I'd love to come down one day, sounds great fun. If any-one hears about a coursing meet at Westonbirt, post here and we'll be there!

WELL DONE to Deb and Digger on winning Best in Field!! Must say, it did look as if he couldn't be beaten after seeing his first (full) run- he is BRILLIANT!

Also well done to Moriarte on winning your class- look forward to seeing your photos soon..

We had a lovely day, unfortunately poor Alfie must have twisted his back on the first turn when he got caught in the line, as he is very stiff tonight- I'll see what he's like in the morning and might take him for some physio if he's no better. He's lying on the sofa with a hot water bottle across his back at the moment, poor baby!

My IG Norman has definitely found his vocation in life- after losing the lure half way round when it went a bit too quickly, he picked it up again and they sent him round the course AGAIN!! He followed the lure really well, and came back to a round of applause and with a big grin on his face!

We will probably be going to the Afghan racing at Warwick on 15th May- should hopefully be able to run Mabel there as her foot should be better by then- anyone else going?

Liz and the Monellis

 WELL DONE Deb and Digger ...... what a result  He sure did enjoy himself

Well done Elizabeth too

I think we can all say it was a really good day and the weather was wonderful, I got a suntan (well there's a white patch where my watch was)LOL.

Any one got any photos ?

We should have some photos, but it may take a few days as we took them the old fashioned way, with that funny old stuff called film!

Yes, that was a good day was't it? Olivia did well too, she's keen to join K9 too. Does anyone have the details for the Warwick or Gloucs sprinting (Beejay?), being as the next BFSA one is too far for us (and the sicky whippet).

OH might even by melting slightly on the Iggy front, Alfie

Elizabeth

I don't know about Gloucs, but the Warwick Afghan racing meeting is- quoting from advert in DW-

opposite Greyhound pub, on Emscote Road, A445.

Refreshments- all breeds welcome- starts 12 noon

Tel: Maria 0208 4227756/ 07850 841108

I know you're near Oxford Elizabeth, but whereabouts do you live? Could give you a lift if you want to go?

Liz and the Monellis

P.S> Just to make your OH melt even more, I popped into Jo's on the way home (she brought Mimi and Dave the IGs today) and saw her three 12 week old babies as well- they are scrummy!!

Thanx for your support and congratulations. It was only his third time of coursing and we are soooo proud of our little man  He was well matched with Flloyd and it was a close run thing, I think everyone enjoyed their courses, although I nearly had heart failure when he had his tumble (w00t) (w00t)

I can tell you, he is sparko now!!! We really enjoyed our day and meeting so many K9'ers.

Does anyone know how the greyhound is who broke his foot? I was gutted for them. Hope he is ok :luck:

I know wot u mean Millie by (w00t) (w00t) (w00t) Wot a noise and he just wasn't going to beleive me when I told him the lure had gone to bed.. No more.. zilch.. (w00t) (w00t)

He is so eager it is :b :- " :- " :- " I think everyone knows him now just by the noise he makes (w00t) (w00t)

Thanks all for a great day, but especially to Elizebeth for running her dog with Digger and having such a good match and, above all, the organisers

Well done Digger......That boy is a star. I think coursing is his thing. He is so keen. I reckon you have a champ on your hands Deb. What a graet boy he is

  Congratulations Deb and Digger - Best in Field on their third go at lure coursing!!!!!

Great new career for a very keen dog - well done both of you!

Sorry about the delay in sending my congrats to Digger for his Best In Field and also to Elizabeth for Floyds Class win. Didn't they do well.

The delay was due to this.

We had a lovely day lure coursing as normal I was just saying Alan that we'd got away early for once and then 5 mins later on the Fosse Way I see a pheasent rising up from the ground and flying off. Behind him was a big dust and debris cloud, out of which comes a motorcyclist tumbling along the road into our carriageway and heading towards us.

OH SHIT I SCREAMED WE ARE GOING TO HIT HIM! My face was literally (w00t)

Alan avoided him as best he could but had nowhere to go as the right hand lane was full of other motor bikes and cars. there was not much verge on the left. He went up onto the verge but there was a bump and a thud noise as the motorcyclist disappeared under the right front wheel just as the van stopped. I couldn't see the man. Where was he?

Alan was in shock so I thought I'm going to have to go see what's happened to him. I jumped out of the van and rushed around the back of it fearing the worst and was well relieved to see him alive and no bits of him sticking out where they shouldn't be and no blood. <phew> Get the car off my foot he said through gritted teeth. So Alan reversed backwards off his foot.

Luckily an ambulance man / paramedic? was in the traffic coming towards us and he took control of the injured biker. Who was very sensible in not getting up. The next 30 mins were spent directing the traffic and then just waiting for the ambulance to arrive. The following 2.5 hours were spent waiting for the police and accident investigators. Then being breathalised, statements taken photographed etc.

What was extra odd about the accident was that a police motorcycle was involved which was taking part in some kind of road safety initiative. Because of that it couldn't be treated like a normal accident which is why it all took so long. In the end with the road painted pink in places everyone withdrew leaving us in our van to be photographed by a helicoper.

The bizarre bit was when they road tested our van. The road was closed with a road block all these flashing lights. Because the driver was going to do emergency stops we had to unload the dogs. So in the middle of this empty bit of road 4 whippets and a deerhound were taken for a walk. :b Gawd knows what the car drivers behind the road blocks thought of it. Probably thought that it was some kind of police raid on a van full of stolen dogs.

As this was almost 3 hours after the accident it was a big relief to be told nothing wrong with the van you can go. Thank god they didn't take the van in as how would we have got home with the dogs and the racing gear.

Through out all of this Woody slept in his front seat he refused to acknowledge the policemen. He clearly thought that the whole thing was beneath him and rather rude.

The policeman in charge of it is phoning us today to tell us how the motorcyclist is. Last night it appeared that he had 'only' broken his foot but I suspect that he has some very colourful bruises. I'm hoping that it's not worse. Poor guy. :(

OMG Beejay, what a terrifying thing to happen!  What a relief that the guy was not more badly injured - motorcyclists are so vulnerable (I used to be one so I know!).

I bet you were all badly shaken by that experience - hope everyone concerned feels better soon  :huggles: :huggles:

Many congratulations Deb, Digger & OH (sorry don't know his name but he was obviously very proud as well!!!), it was a well deserved win.

Well done too to Elizabeth & Flloyd (don't know your OH name either, hope the pics turn out OK) ................. I saw you cuddling that Iggie puppy!!!!

Beejay ........... how awful for you!! Love the bit about Woody though, that's the sort of thing Rupert would do! LOL

Well done everyone. I feel like I've missed out because I used to live in Oxfordshire :( Would have loved to have met you all.

Poor you Beejay. I've had an accident on The Fosse before (skidded on black ice and totally lost control of my car). Wonder if there is a accident blackspot there. :nuke: Must have been an awful shock for you and Alan.

Yes, I think they went very well together as a pair - I think there were only a few points between all the top dogs; digger on 79.5, ours and a few others on 77 after the second round. Had to drag ours away, screaming and kicking, he wouldn't take his eyes off the lure, even in the car! Very undignified!

OMG! Poor you, Beejay! There's something about the way people drive on Sundays, isn't there? Perhaps they get too relaxed! (Wasn't near that huge hill on the Fosse was it? Always scares me going down there! ) OH (James) nearly went into back of someone who stopped without warning on our 1 mile journey to the inlaws!

Broken foot; been there, done that and yes it is very painful! Talking of which, any idea of what happened to the lady with the blue greyhound with the broken foot? Apparently the Vets in the next village are horse specialists only and live in Henley-in-Arden which is miles away.

And the good news is that he's dislocated his shoulder (no doubt falling off the bike) and has a scrape on his big toe.

Yep he falls off his motor bike, bounces along the road until he hits a BIG red van. Where upon said big red van runs over his foot and that's his injuries. Thank the whippet god and his motorbike leathers.

PS. His wife has banned him from any more riding on motor bikes.

Meanwhile we will be travelling on the Fosse to the WCRA Champs again next Sunday. :- "

See you Elizabeth at the Hill Sprint? See you Debs at South Cotswold.
