Its Highgate wrc who are organising the Highgate Whippet Bend Derby, Highgate stadium are sponsoring it.

Regarding me having to put your kind offer to the rest of the organisers was because at first I wasn't too sure about it

The reason being is I have 2 stud dogs myself, and I wouldn't offer their services as a raffle prize, because I wouldn't put either of them across any bitch, also I thought that if the winner doesn't really want to use your dogs, it may offend you if they turn it down :b

If this offer is going to cause friction and bad feelings, I would rather not bother accepting it. I'm sure we will get lots of other prizes donated.

Thanks anyway.

Geoff

I'm sure Debbie could put some kind of token voucher/certificate in an envelope and if someone didn't want the prize they could discreetly pass it on to somebody else. Just as I'm sure many people have passed on a bottle of wine/box of smellies they don't want that they have won on the raffle

With respest Fleesh, I've made my decision, end off.

Maybe you could do a seperate competition, bit like a guess the name of the doll, or you could have guess the weight of the pup, how many beans in the jar idea, but use debbies offer for that instead, then only those that might choose to take part to win could :)

It's a lovely idea, but i do think it's a bit strange for a raffle prize :)

I was simply offering an alternative solution to a quandry. Had I realised that "If this offer is going to cause friction and bad feelings, I would rather not bother accepting it" actually meant "thankyou Debbie but I have changed my mind" I would not have replied.

I just hope Debbie is not left feeling put out by what she considered to be a very genuine and generous offer.

I am also upset that the last few comments I have made on this topic seem to have been viewed with contempt. Can somebody people explain what I am doing to offend in order to prevent further ill feeling ?

its not a problem to me one way or another wether accepted or not, for the last 6 month i haven,t raced any dog and just wanted to help anyway i could by raising some money back for a great event such as this, the myers family are great people and imo deserve all our support, i,m not in a position to give money donation so this was my way of helping, i,m sure some-oneelse in the whippets would love this offer,. i,m not getting in to all this carry on between people,.

yours in sport DEBBIE :)

Thanks for the offer anyway Debbie  just by turning up is enough support from you  Your entry fee into the stadium will help to show our appreciation to the Myer's family, because we are giving them back the gate money

I'm sure if there is a good turn out of entries, the prize money will go way over a £1000, and Highgate wrc will be making up the difference

The Boss :)

It is a shame Debbie but I think with the current state of affairs on the Non-ped area of the forum many people are finding it increasingly difficult to portray their wish to remain neutral (myself included). I enjoy all of my friendships equally but there can tend to be an onus on "if you're not with us you're against us" and any comments intended to be neutral and unintentionally taken in the wrong context are construed as being "for" or"against" any particular party.

Maybe we all need to take a step back and stop thinking the world is out to get us, we're only arguing over our pets after all, there are other people in the world fighting for their lives, freedoms etc.

Would be nice to do something different for the derby, like the certificates you did (sorry vicky did for you  )for the highgate open geoff, maybe style it in conjunction with james and his family, reflect the link with the stadium?

chris

and how about a picture of the Myers family on the front cover of the program.Would mean Vicky nipping over to Highgate one day to take the pic,but i'm sure she wouldn't mind
