.......or ALI SUN......now im getting really silly - sorry :- "

Sungenie is great!!

 think I might have lost my last reply....(blond moment or age :- " ), good ideas so far but very difficult to choose the right one, after all it stays with you as long as you pay the KC the money every single year to keep it going :p

How about trying a play on your words... walk (initials) change to gait or stride so instead of Watergate you get Mooregait :teehee:

sorry its late and us oldies need our sleep -_-

you're right, I do need a different perpective on some of the words I want to use

see, you don't need to go to sleep yet after all

not so sure about the sleep :b but glad to add to the thought process :) and hope you can come up with a meaningful affix soon, good luck  .Its always interesting to find out how others decided on their 'kennel' name, ours was a slight variation of where we lived when we had our first whippet & a part of her name. We tried for yonks to combine our names without success, some where funny :D some you couldn't say  ,some were plain stupid  and some the KC didn't like

So good luck :luck:

on our short list at the moment are:

Whiparound / Whipround

Sunwalkers

Sungenie

Sundemon

Allsun

I bet they're all gone!

and Autumnsun and Sunsetwalk and Sunstream and Allsunwalk

Never know, Alison, one day you may want to raise a litter. :) I think it is lot better to have kennel name than not having one, and then having the KC rejecting all you apply for, while the bitch is getting bigger and bigger.............. (w00t) I knew once somebody like that - it took them some 7 months to get their prefix approved.

Also I think it is a good idea to keep kennel name relatively short, here we have maximum 22 letters for dogs' registered name (including prefix/affix) and nothing is more annoying than having really good name, which is just letter or 2 too long. That happened to me.

Love Alikazam. Very snappy. I think that easily pronounced and sounding good is more important than the personal meaning. Good prefix/affix in names of good dogs will in time acquire its own meaning.

Really enjoying this thread.. as Im going through the same.. Trying to get the right kennel name.. and my other half insists on "Whipp It Good"..

If anyone likes any of these names I know that they are NOT registered affixes at present. If any appeal to anyone I suggest you apply online for it and ONLY put that name as a first choice - if you put 3 or 4 as requested you'll probably get the one you least like.

There is a list of registerd affixes which I bought from the KC when I was looking to get one and even then the first 20 or so were already taken when I applied :(

I was going to buy that from the KC stand at Southern Counties, the woman working on it told me not to bother cos its out of date as soon as its printed!

I only wanted a bit of guidance :(

If I have still got it I will bring it to Windsor, thats if it hasnt been swept away by the river Thames that runs along side the showground (w00t)

what about Kikiss

or, for those who know me well, I think Texta is the perfect name for me :- "

Texta Whippets, I think I'll try for that

we've got a kennel name!!! (w00t)

Sunwalkers

we wanted Sunwalk, cos it was a bit from Sunny, our first whippet, and walk from our initials, but it was declined :(

Sunwalkers was suggested on this thread, we asked for it and we've been given it  subject to the normal regs  :sweating:

I phoned Cathie to tell her, as she did breed Monty I thought she should know, she said that she thought that it was one she had suggested, on looking back through the posts I've discovered she's right :- " Guess who's buying the teas at the next show :b  ;)

thanks K9'ers for your many suggestions and pm's, as always you've been an inspiration :huggles:
