It is with deep sadness i post this on what should have been a great day , my sons 18th , however today saw the passing of my dear friend who was more than just a pony to me , he was a great fat spotty lump and a total pain in the arse, but he was MY fat spotty lump , i first had him at the age of 12 and when he was sold when i was 15 i promised him i would find him and bring him home to spend the rest of his days with me, i traced him and about 8 yrs ago i bought him back , at the age of 24 we jumped again this time at the national finals , resulting in 5th place , when i fell pregant with alfie , a young lady i knew , i asked her to have him on loan as i felt she was the only person to love him as i did , she certainly done that , thank you louise, :huggles: we spent the last couple of years preparing for the worst , several bad bouts of colic and financially he broke us but he has been worth every penny bouncing back everytime , this spring he started to drop weight and we realised the time was near so i asked for him to be brought back home to fulfill my childhood promise to the end , the last month he has dropped so much weight we decided he would be PTS in next week or 2 but he made it so hard trotting across with a whinny and a nudge , at times even a buck
yesterday my dad fed him for me and he had slipped down to the floor and had trouble getting up , i wasnt told coz i was unable to do anything as i was lure coursing , and he was back on his feet and eating happy, went down to feed him this morn and he was stiff but still followed me down the lane to another paddock and ate his food with great gusto , at 7 pm tonight , i just had a feeling i needed to go back for the 4th time today , and yes he was down and i could clearly see he wasnt getting back up , he passed away about an hour after , i had his head in my lap for all that hour and i left for 10 mins to take a coffee back down to spen the night with him , he kept trying to look at me as my dad took me away , and about 5 mins after i left he struggled to get up , my brother and cousin tried to settle him but he had a heart attack on top of the stroke he had earlier in the day , he died in my arms , he was gone when i got back but his heart dint stop til i was with him , he passed away peacefully at the age of 31
goodbye my friend , i love you xxx
