Just home after a long weekend away - we wish Woody all the best today.

:luck:   :luck:

Well he's back home again. :)

Sandra has done the surgery and Woody's leg is all strapped up again. For those interested in such matters this is what was wrong with Woody's shoulder and also how it has been fixed. shoulder dislocations

He had a cranial shoulder luxation, apparently he has had summat very rare. Trust him :- " . To fix him Sandra did a greater tubercle osteotomy and biceps tendon transposition.

Basically she opened him up on both sides of his shoulder. Moved the muscles out of the way. Cut through part of the top of the upper leg bone, (that's the greater tubercle bit) and then cut a groove into the bone, moved the biceps tendon so that it fits into the groove. Put the top of the bone back on again and then pinned it with 3 pins to hold it in place. Then put the muscles back. I'm pretty sure that she had to do something else as well because the shoulder was also medially luxated.

Thank you for all the good wishes for him it is very much appreciated. :huggles: He's got to have the dressing and modified sling on for 2-3 weeks which is a worry in terms of his skin. But he's well padded out with cotton wool and the dressing has been kept to an absolute minimum so fingers crossed he'll be okay. Also there are open bits that I can use to look at the leg/wound to check for colour and sniff at.

Right off to carry him outside again.

Blimey Woods, you never do anything by halves do you  .......... Glad the op went well ...... :huggles: to himself and his human slaves :huggles:

Glad to hear the op went really well for Woody :luck: Hope he gets better really quickly :huggles:

:) Glad the op's over and Woody's back at home. The peephole in the dressing sounds like a great idea in the circumstances-it's a worry if a dressing has to be left on for any length of time. :luck: Best wishes to Woody from all the Burrows and our pack :huggles:
