That sounds very complicated, but I bet Sandra really enjoyed doing it!

Pleased he's home and hopefully a bit more comfortable now. :luck: to Woody and to his staff.

You and Alan must both feel very relieved that the op is all over. Fingers crossed that the recovery is uneventful and a success. I am really glad it all went well.

Barbara will be around to thank you all soon and reply to all of her Pm's wishing Woods well etc ......but at the moment "he who must be obeyed" is taking up nearly all of Barbara and Alan's time ..........On a happy note though Woody seems very perky and has his human slaves just where he wants them :D

Great news Barbara  really pleased all went well :)) hoping from now on Woody go's from strength to strength :huggles: :huggles: :luck: :luck: :luck:

Fantastic news :D We do hope Woody has a speedy recovery :luck:

Fingers crossed there will not no nasty surprises through the peepholes!

Just a quick update before he who must be obeyed instantly - jump to it NOW! - :sweating: starts giving his orders. :)

We went back to the vets yesterday (2 weeks 1 day post op) to have the strapping removed. On Tuesday I'd nearly convinced myself that the leg had redislocated and that it had died and rotted but given off no smell. So between myself and Sandra there was a lot of trepidation as she started to cut off the dressing.

As the dressing was peeled back to reveal ..... beautiful almost perfect skin and the shoulder being right where it should be. The op scar is so fine it's hardly visible and the sores that had been present on the leg when she had strapped it up after the op had got no worse at all. The only new sore area being on his elbow and tummy. After a few hours of being open to the air and Woody having a little clean up they looked really good by last night. The red tummy patch has gone, elbow has got a small scab on it and the rest are just little bald patches really. It looks like they will heal on their own. The area over one of the pin ends is raised and that pin might need something doing to it but that will be a small quick op. Only time will tell if that needs to be done.

Sandra decided not to restrap so we are being very, very careful with him. We've got 4 more weeks of carrying him out to empty and back in again and him being cage rested. He's not supposed to put the foot to the ground because of the bone having to heal so of course he's decided well I've got my leg back and if I just rest my knuckles against the ground I can use it as a support. (w00t) (w00t) (w00t) :sweating: :sweating: Luckily at the moment he can't put his pad side to the ground but already there is more movement coming back into his foot so.............. However a small ankle sock placed over the flexed wrist and pulled up to his elbow does the trick nicely of keeping his leg off the ground when he's out for an empty. ;) No matter where we put him down he always has to hop for a foot or so to find a better place to go.

The porta mag is now on the bone healing setting. The manual says that used on 6 for 3-4 hours twice a day it can cut bone healing time by half. The way that Woody is going that would be helpful.

Only another 26 days to go. Thanks for all the pm's and phone calls your support is very much appreciated. :huggles: Right off to get dressed now as he'll want to go out to empty in half an hour.

:) so glad it went well keep up the good work miss seeing you at the track hope to see you soon jane

Glad all is going well and well done with the hard work getting him right again

Good luck and hopefully all will continue to improve :luck: :luck:

That's brilliant news .....I know you were worrying :sweating: .....Way to go Woods, onwards and upwards  :huggles:

Thats very good news Barbara. At least you won't have to worry about his skin now. Shame the mag box doesn't have a turbo setting :) Best of luck over the next 4 weeks :luck:
