I will certainly print and send this off  Great idea and worded brilliantly, well done

I wonder if a petition could be started off too and spread to different dog websites ?

yes please thats great idea. the more people who sign this and protest about the way dogs are treated in these pounds the better.and if enough people protest about the release fees then maybe theyll start to waive them like other pounds do.that 25 euros could be spent on medical aid or food.if anyone wants to cross post this or make it into an online petition so it can be sent to the council please do so :huggles:

Brilliant, i will print a load off at work tomorrow

Ill be printing today for myself, family and friends

Run free over the Rainbow Bridge little Mabel.

please please please  print it off and sign it.they are so desperate for help and who knows the council might listen if enough people sign this and bother to do something.the 25 euros release fee doesnt sound much but its making  a big hole in rescue funds.please help these dogs. :(
will do

Poor Mable :( R.I.P little one.

Well done to Kris and Nina for their efforts. Hope you are both ok.

This is shocking and i cant stop thinking of what that poor baby must have went through.

Sleep tight. :'(

cheers everyone.its the people who do care who change things in this world for the better. :huggles: animals havent got a voice.we have to speak for them.cant thank you enough everyone who is taking the time to do this.i saw a little whippy x bitch puppy on that site yesterday,7 or 8 weeks old, half starved, cold, wet and in an outside kennel with no shelter.i wont post the pic cos the local rescue girls have got her out now.but the picture was heartbreaking.she looked as if she was saying what did i do to deserve this? :(

thats just awful - no dog should be outside with no shelter - let alone a puppy in this weather .... so glad she's out now

:luck: to the wee girlie, she deserves it

Im absolutely beside myself!! i can't believe what im reading!!!!! the level of pure ignorance is immense!! i had no idea it was so backward over there i have Irish blood and tonight i feel completely ashamed of it :(

Thank you Kris for all you did

R.I.P Mabel sweetheart :huggles:

I have printed it off and am posting it tomorrow..... I am gob smacked...

:( still in so much shock about this whole situation - cant believe inhumane treatment like this still happens today. Makes me ashamed to be human :(

I live right down the bottom of england in southampton, being 19 and a student I'm too poor to drive, but I am so eager to help in anyway possible. Is there anyway for me to get bedding, coats, toys etc passed on even though I'm so far away?

What if I roll up in the pile of towels and bedding, and once inside the pound I can steal all the dogs away lol!! ...always good to have a fall-back-plan.

xXx

I was hoping when I started to first read this post that little Mabel had been rescued from this terrible situation and was most upset to then read she had been put to sleep. :(

A big thank you to those that tried to save this little girl, I feel now she has left a legacy by bring to light the condition of this pound and the failure of regulations that are in place in Ireland for the protection of their animals worldwide.

I have copied and post my letter today.

Rest in Peace little Mabel

Cristina

I have printed some copies and will send them from Australia first thing on Monday.

Dear Mabel R.I.P., your short unhappy life was not in vain, through your plight other dogs may be able to live in humane conditions.

just caught up with this and am truly saddened.
I have never heard of a pound not being able to treat an injured animal because they don't own it - if I found a stray with a broken leg and took it to a vets for treatment, I could imagine the owners refusing to pay for it, but I can't imagine them mounting a successful prosecution, can you?

and what would happen if I knowingly left one of mine with an untreated break for 5 days? Surely, if they heard about it, the RSPCA would prosecute???

RIP little girl, i am so sorry that we heard about your plight too late :(
I only just saw these messages, and it's so upsetting as she was so gorgeous and so young and unlikely to be truly an aggressive temperament. Most pounds do not spend any money on veterinary treatment. They don't even give treatment for worms, fleas and mange. If you hear about a case like this, you have to act very quickly and phone people who can help.

there was a case in Ireland recently, publicised on http://petsireland.invisionzone.com , where a young lurcher was put down for health reasons before the 5 days were up. He was seriously underweight, had bad mange, etc. and there was no legal requirement to keep him for even 5 days as this was a surrender rather than a stray. But a rescue place had been found for this dog and they were happy to take him and give him tlc/treatment asap!

(I'm also thinking about the owner-surrender policy; what if it turns out that the person who surrendered a dog wasn't the rightful owner?)
