Thanks everyone.

Going to get the little fat man shortly.

Spoke to the vet and he is sending off bile acids blood samples from today....he took blood then fed some stuff to Parker( no surprise he ate it)then took more blood two hours later to see how his liver dealt with it.

the scan revealed a normal looking liver with no visible defects/tumours etc.

we start Parker on Potassium bromide tonight alongside his phenobarb but we have to wait four months for the KBr levels to reach a maintenance level in his blood so we have a long wait to get the fits under control.

please all keep fingers crossed that his body tolerates the KBr tablets because i can't see him on permanent Diazepam( this would only work for a little while.)

also keep fingers crossed for positive bile acids results so we can stop worrying about his liver for a while.

will update later in week when all the results are in, for now i can't wait to get the noisy boy home xxxxxxxxx

good luck parker hope all goes well :luck: :luck: :huggles:

he was pretty pooped bless him.

anyway had a call from the vet tonight and the blood results are in!

his bile acids needed to be under 10 but his were 11.7 and whilst this is not good, it does mean that his liver is still working pretty effectively and that his epilepsy is definitely nothing to do with his liver

..he still has to stay on hepatic food and we'll have to keep a check on things but it means right nbow all we have to do is try and get his fits under control......if they get too often and the vet regards them as cluster seizures he said he will instruct us to dose Parker up with Diazepam continuously for around two weeks to break the habit of the fits..

.this gives us a bit of hope too since it will take several months for the KBr tablets to have an effect.

I'm glad he's got a whippet to snuggle up to

great to hear that the vets have a plan...I sensed you felt fairly hopeless last week :huggles: :huggles: :huggles:
