Ooh, I like Squirrel. I always said I wouldn't have another cat now I've discovered whippets, but a beauty like Squirrel would be a sore temptation!

Looking at all your pictures, I think Lola might be a silver brindle. Or maybe she's a bit dark. She's quite similar to Lampy's Zorro and also 50p...

:luck: Lots of luck with her!

This is my beloved late Silve. She was my first whippet. Her shade of Silver Brindle is very rare, I haven't seen similar since.

my whippet's colour is very similar to Silve, also like 50p

but they don't look nearly as silver as some of the others, for instance Kobi in his picture on this page

although I do say my dog is silver brindle, the fawn part of his colouring is really more golden apart from his blue muzzle

I'm not quite sure what you mean above  , that Silve doesn't look nearly as silver as some of the others? Well, its difficult to judge from the photos, but in IRL she was very silvery, so much so that I haven't seen any whippet with her exact colour :) - "clanging" clear silver  . Maybe the colour is clearer in this other pic of her:

Ponygirl - this is where I come across as a real whippet amateur, as I'm not sure what you mean by "what's her breeding?" I know her father is Bruntsfield Playaway and her mum is Ebony Black Pearl (not sure on pre-fix, might be Vanya) and thats about it sorry!

As for names, well, we had a fox terrier when I was younger called Dexter, after the Cartoon Network's cartoon "Dexter's Lab" :b and I always said when I had a girl I wanted to call her DeeDee (Dexter's sister). But then when we went to choose her, the breeder said "oh after the famous "DeeDee" who won Crufts in 2004" so I'm not so sure now! :S Seems a bit unoriginal :(

Yep, that's all I meant, & whether she's show/racing or whatever  , just out of interest!

She looks lovely, and you should call her whatever you like, you'll have to live with it a long time so if it's a name you love, go for it!

(me & my children love Dexter's Lab too :teehee: :) )

Helen, we are lucky that squirrel & his sister are here, when they were 5weeks old they & 2 other kits were thrown into the canal in a sack. Sadly the other 2 didn't make it but after weeks of t.l.c. my 2 pulled through. How anyone could do this is beyond me   They won the PDSA pet survivor of the year N.W. heat when they were 7months old. Didn't win the final but it was good fun :))

:( Oh no - that's more common than you'd think. Ten years ago my Phoebe cat was found dumped in a black sack in a ditch with her littermates and mother. They were on their last gasp when they were found. One of the kittens and the mother didn't survive and Phoebe has never been 'right'. She's very nervous and I think slightly deaf from oxygen deprivation :(

Heres a pic of one of my silver brindles ( a parti though)

Defo not a silver brindle but here's a pic of Ebony Black Pearl's dad. The blue bitch whose photo is on this thread owned by Dennis is another Ebony Black Pearl daughter (different dad to yours though). Beauty

Also Midnight Dill who is Ebony Black Pearl's dam is the litter sister to Moriartes Gelert. Small world isn't it and that's just that side of the family.

Beejay - wow, thank you so much, it's lovely to be able to see our little girl's relatives :) So is he FLEETWAY EBONY EDITION, as that's the name I have down as "Twinkle's" Dad?

He's a black beauty thats for sure :) We nearly chose one of his little black grandaughters, but our little one just seemed right

Yep my Bean is Fleetway Ebony Edition. His father btw is Lydia's Guy (Sunne In Splendour of Darkstars) also a black. Then Guy's sire is Dessie's Frankie (Wyemere Silken Black). Frankie was mated to Derohan Pretty Polly (Brindle) whose pet name I can't remember at the mo. She's owned by Dessie's great friend and vet. D Pretty Polly's dam was the wonderful Dessie herself (Toerag Out And About with Derohan). I'm not sure but I think that Dessie might have been a silver brindle. Somewhere on here there are pics of Bean, Guy, Frankie and Dessie. Also pics of the very handsome and multi talented Bruntsfield Playaway are on here. Lots of his pups on here too I think.

Wow. Well that's made my mind up. Next time it's a black dog for me ;)
