Not sure where you are @JudyN but that first picture of Jasper in the sand looks very warm and sunny..
I hear what you say about mud , one of our walks is mud mud mud for about 7 months of the year and mosquitos and gnats the other 5!

Its going to be warm today so we were up and out nice and early. Lauwersoogmeer a lovely nature reserve that has a dog beach and was great for Murphy to prove how special he is by walking on the water!

We hadn't even got to the heath (just over a mile from home) before Jasper decided a nice snooze on the cool grass was in order. (According to the app on my phone it was 12c, though sunny and felt warmer.)

He does such a good impression of a corpse when he's lying down that a car pulled over once and the driver, bless her, asked if he was OK.

I wondered if anyone would like to participate in a thread where we post a photo from 'today's dog walk'?

This morning Timber and I walked a mile or so along a sandbank to what is called The Black Rock - basically a big black rock that sticks out of the sand! I took the photo at the start, if you look carefully you can just see the new Queensferry Crossing in the background.

This is an idea I recently had aswell, I've struggled to find walks given im new to my area. I've started sharing them here: Find & Seek - Dog Adventures. I'd love to add some of your favourite walks aswell.

If anyone would want them shared (and credited) please drop me a message

seeing Jasper flat-out in the sun reminds me of my POA mare's most-embarrassing moment - for me; SHE was not in the least bothered. :D

We were camping on the grounds of the Bellefonte rodeo; it was July, & hot. Pecas was grazing on a hand-held long line in the open field, decided to nap, lay down upright with her teeth supporting her head, & slept.
Then she decided that wasn't enuf - she lay flat on her side, tongue protruding slightly, & slept... deeply... in full sun.

8 or 10 kind folks came over to ask if she was alright - i assured each one she was fine, just relaxed. About an hour later, she woke, rolled 3 times, got up, shook off, & went back to grazing. Ya gotta love 'em.

P.S. -
ETA, while she slept, i sat on the grass nearby & sweated, with my back to the sun & a book in my hands, in a wide-brimmed hat for shade, & read - waiting for her to wake.
Nowadays, i'd have a golf-size brolly with me, i'd set it on the ground & use it as a sunshade. ;) But this was 30-yrs ago, & i hadn't thought of that, yet.

It was a couple of days ago but I have just got photos sorted. We took the funicular railway up to the summit of the Puy de Dome (where Volvic water comes from) and walked down - my calves are still aching!

He can read! I'm in awe - but i think he misread 'Stop' as 'Sleep', LOL. :D

He also missed the bit that said 'BUS'. But hey, he's not a collie, what do you expect? And when you're a sighthound, there's not that much difference between 'stop' and 'sleep';)

That reminds me of when I was at the Devils Dyke with Titan, a lovely place to walk, gorze bushes, random paths etc, it was a really foggy day and me and Titan where just walking up between two bushes to meet the main path when we heard voices and horses trotting along, so we waited so as not to scare them but unfortunately one of the horses spotted me and this huge, obviously horse eating monster and totally freaked:eek:! It ran sideways and all the other horses panicked too, thankfully the riders were understanding and got a grip of their horses eventually.. It was a little bit funny ;), actually it still makes me chuckle to myself now when I think of it:D!
